Okay. The other day he and our friend George went up to Lakeview Cottages. If you have read my blog at any point during the summer, you have already read about our rental cabins at Huntington Lake, a gorgeous, quiet lake at 7000-foot elevation. One of my favorite things to do: sewing on the deck of an unrented cabin, with a view of the lake.
Our rental season runs for fifteen weeks and starts the first weekend after Memorial Day. Last year, we lost our first rental week because there was too much snow and the water had not been turned on yet.
That was last year. It can't happen two years in a row, right?
Mark and George borrowed some snowmobiles on Friday, to go around the lake and check things out. So you see, technically these photos are not drive-by shootings, as he actually stopped and got off the snowmobile at times.
Anyway, our rental season starts in about five weeks. Tell me what you think our chances are of opening on June 4.
See the street sign?
Our "commons" area with the tetherball pole sticking up through the snow
Cabin G, "our" cabin in the off season.
Reservations, anyone?

Hmmm.... okay, if you say so! ;)
uhhhh.....probably not! So pretty though!
I love that the sun is shining though! It doesnt look like too bad of a place to be if the sun is shining!!
Oh Yes, Please! I'll take several for our office outing in July, thank you!!
Oh my gosh! Ok so I read the first couple lines of this and then clicked on the link to the Lakeview cottages..not even scrolling down to see the pictures yet. Because, see I was thinking, "hey, that's about 5 1/2 hours from here and hubby is gone this summer (AGAIN) and I'm tired of not being able to camp. (we have a trailer, but I don't know how to hook it up to the hitch, unhook it etc.)Maybe the girls and I should go get one of these cabins for a few days!" Found the cabin we want and all, "M", I think would be perfect for us. (3 year old and myself would share one bed and my 7 year old in the twin bed...perfect!) Then I go back to your post and see all the snow! Holy cow! Now I know it'd be gone in the summer, but I want to go early and as of now, it looks rather chilly! ;)
We are moving in August and in July 3 of the weekends are already booked, so it'd have to be June...we'll see!
Looks like opening might be late again. If that much snow melts in the next 5 weeks, we better take the waders out here in the valley - lol!
Look at all that snow!! Unless you start having 100 degree days, I doubt you're going to open on-time.
Wow! That's still a lot of snow so unless it really warms up fast...probably not going to open on June 4th. Sorry to say :(
Unless someone like Grandma G starts to really miss the white ground cover and needs to travel from MN to CA to see the snow?!?!?!
holy schnikey - that's a boat load of snow!
Becky, you wash your mouth out with soap! ;) Actually, we still have some white left, but it just MIGHT be gone by morning if it rains all night as predicted!!!!
Goodness . . . that is a lot of snow, but there will be some happy people downstream when the snowpack melts and they get a lot of water.
pi-tooh, pi-tooh, blech, that soap tastes nasty! :)
Good girl! You're forgiven now. ;)
Wow, I can't believe there's still so much snow in those mountains! Just imagine what the snow-melt and run-off is going to be like once it starts to warm up.
Such a beautiful place that I hope to visit someday.
You'll be ready to ready to open. We're out of snow here and it happens in a flash.
Catching up after my long school-related absence. I missed you!
Love Levi's quilt, your pop beads, and I can't wait to see how the Single Girl turns out!
Hope you're well ~ Carly
