If you and I are to maintain a lasting relationship with each other, I think now would be a good time to take a little break from each other to evaluate our feelings. I don't know about you, but personally I'm feeling a little frustrated. You have forced me to bring new players into this relationship(Note: Have binder clips handy if you attempt this bag), and while they helped me deal with certain, um, "issues," I don't desire to have them around on any kind of regular basis because I just don't want to "go there" again, if you know what I mean.
I also find you to be rather demanding in monopolizing all my free time. I have other
At this point, all I can say is that it's a good thing you have such a pleasing exterior, because otherwise, I would have no hope for any kind of continued friendship. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you have some inner demons that definitely need some therapy...and I'm not sure I'm the person for the job but I'll give it my best effort.
I'll call you when I'm ready to resume this relationship. In the meantime, I'm off to see what everyone else has been working on in the past week.
Sincerely,
Frustrated in Fresno
I love it and know exactly how you feel! This was pretty much my post that I did about the AB Style Stitches Origami Bags! It will be worth it to finish and the exterior looks beautiful so far!
ReplyDeleteI'm never, ever attempting one of AB's bags. I loved this post, though.

ReplyDeleteHaha, your post just cracked me up! I bought the book, but so far I've only admired the beautiful photos in it...
ReplyDeleteYour post cracked me up!! Yes, I do think you need temporary break from each other. But it does look great so far.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks wonderful so far!!!! The exterior definitely is pleasing. But I've heard this bag has a notorious reputation. Eeek. Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is good you have kept a sense of humor through this process! LOL! You made me laugh! And the outside does look lovely :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just have to take a break. Been there...done that....but in the end you'll figure it out and it will all be worth it. Love, love your fabric choices and it looks great so far!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, made me smile, I have a few of those projects laying around.
ReplyDeleteEEEKK! Oh no, I don't want to hear this. And binder clips, ugh.. Hope your relationship with this bag is improving. Love your post.
ReplyDeleteI felt just this way when i made the bag. A little break will do you good, I promise. It's worth it in the long run.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm not laughing at you... just near you. I have heard nightmares about this bag and well, a lot of AB's bag patterns. They are certainly gorgeous when they are done though!
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
Funny letter to your sewing project! I've had those moments too. Your Weekender Bag looks fabulous so far. Hope you keep at it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great laugh, Cindy. I know how you feel! You did a wonderful job with it and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteOh oh oh it's so beautiful!!!! Please show me more!!
ReplyDeleteIt may be giving you a hard time, but it looks great! Don't give up!
ReplyDeleteHa! Everyone thinks you're being funny. But I know exactly how serious you are! Been there. :)
ReplyDeleteBut lovin' the end result... of both mine and yours! Keep goin'... you're almost there!! And you'll be SEW glad you did!!
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Your little sneaky peeky looks beautiful though. i hope you can work through your problems :-)
ReplyDeleteOh bummer! You should totally take a break and then come back to visit it soon. It will seem much easier, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm placing that future project lower on my list of things I'd like to start...
ReplyDeleteBreathe....breathe.... See, I knew there was a reason I didn't try this project. I've heard horror stories. Yours looks good so far though!
ReplyDeleteyour bag is beautiful, but i'm all too familiar with giving my projects a stern talking-to. enjoy your "little break" :)
ReplyDeleteYour posts are hysterical. I have been procrastinating starting this bag for over a year! Don't know whether to go with misery loves company and jump in now or to be scared and keep procrastinating. You've provided a great tip with the binder clips. Keep posting, I'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteoh dear ... you've confirmed my worst fears!! But I have to say ... it's looking beautiful ... keep going ... x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post Cindy. Don't despair. You and the Weekender will have a long and happy relationship. A break sounds like a great idea, then grab a box of chocolates to share and patch things up for the big finish!
ReplyDeleteI tried to make a similar bag while pregnant (for my hospital bag). I had made two of them before for my kids but thought it was time for me to have one. It was so trying and I ended up putting it in the attic out of frustration. 2 years later, it is still there. Better luck to you!
ReplyDeleteGracious! Weekender bag, why can't I quit you?
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome do far. I hope y'all can kiss and make up soon!
Ha! Kind of like puppies, huh? They have to be cute to survive the frustrations they cause!! My daughter and I used an AB pattern to make her diaper bag and experienced some grrr..... moments! I think maybe Amy needs a new pattern writer...you should apply!! Loved your post, btw!
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome so far, but yeah I have heard that pattern is a bear. Hope your break gives you the strength to finish and then I am sure you will enjoy it a ton!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! Good luck and I hope you figure it out. I am having a similar relationship with some pleats and wonky instructions at the moment.
ReplyDeleteexcellent post...i have made a few AB bags and know the difficult nature of that particular relationship! it is looking gorgeous though and i can't wait to see the finished piece. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Cindy, I love your posts. : ) Binder clips, wow. I'm not big on sewing bags, but I can't even imagine what you're using those for. But I'm sure it'll all be worth it when it's done! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
