Farmer's Wife Friday: Enjoy Life to the Fullest

I'm away at my friend Dotty's cabin, sewing all weekend, enjoying life, and good friends, to the fullest. No cell phone reception, no computer access. So no response to any comments. I hope you will understand.

The farmer's wife this week comes from Newton County, Indiana. I thought it was interesting that she said, "I hope my daughter marries the man of my [emphasis mine] dreams--the farmer of tomorrow..." I hope he is the man of her daughter's dreams as well.

Two blocks were completed this week, which means, after these two, there are only seven remaining!

#16 Calico Puzzle. This is an easy block, just a variation of a nine-patch with some half-square triangle blocks in the four corners.

#63, Ozark Maple Leaf. I found there was a much easier way to construct this block than the recommended templates. If you are considering making this block, instead of half square triangles for piece #13, cut 1 1/2 inch squares. For piece #65, cut a 2 1/2-inch square. Then put the smaller squares on opposite corners, sew diagonally and trim--the stitch and flip method. Easy peasy. If you have any questions, email me and I'll walk you through it. It just makes the block construction so much easier.
I'm looking forward to the completion of all 111 blocks. I'm kind of letting Carla take over the letter review because she does such a great job. I know. I'm a slacker. But I'm already looking ahead to sewing all these blocks together.
