Choices and consequences. I worked on "non-essential" projects earlier in the week. You know the kind: inspiration strikes and you have to drop everything and work on things that weren't even on your list! So consequently I was working on these blocks late last night. Will I ever learn? It might not matter so much. Because....
....Carla and I only have thirteen more blocks to do!!!
But I digress.
The farmer's wife this week is from Portage County, Wisconsin.
She begins her letter by mentioning the public traveling libraries that bring the best of literature to the farms. The work is never the same from day to day, and the view from her window is an "ever-changing delight of cloud and sky, tree and field." She might see a flock of swallows flying by.
#93 Swallow
I thought one of the most interesting comments was her assertion that "the woman who is a failure on the farm would be a failure in town." My favorite part of this letter was the way she ended it: "I hope first that my future son-in-law will be an upright, honest man and worthy of my daughter, and she worthy of him; and next, I hope he will be a farmer."
I believe she has her priorities clearly in order.
#110 Wood Lily
I really like both of the blocks this week. I was a little intimidated when I saw all the pieces in Wood Lily, but I was quite happy with how it turned out.
Five more letters! I can hardly believe it. Thanks to Carla, my partner in this project. We could never have done it without each other. I'm anxious to see what fabric Carla chose for this week's blocks.
Oops. What happened here?
I'll put them all back up on the design wall for a progress picture next week.

Oooops! They all fell down! Both of this week's blocks are great! Getting close now! Have you decided on a sashing fabric?
I can't believe you are so near the finish already! Then you have to piece them together!!
It's so much fun to see how different everyone's blocks looks with the fabrics they've chosen.
I can't wait to see yours all sewn together! It's going to be beautiful!
Wow! You are getting so close to a finish. The new ones are just beautiful.
Go, go, go! You're almost done!!! I am really loving you're Wood Lily block. It's gorgeous!
Yikes, you are so close!!
I loved seeing yours and Carla's blocks all mixed together last week. And fun to think you are so close to being done. Hurrah for finishes!
And can't wait to see that secret project you are working on.
E.
Beautiful blocks this week! They look like a lot of little piecing. I am so impressed with how far you've come with this amazing project. It's so inspiring to hear you're almost finished.
I do love those kinds of projects that you dream up and have to start working on immediately.
My husband has family in Portage, WI! :-) That had to be a bummer, when all those blocks fell down!
Wood Lily is gorgeous. All the blocks are fabulous - I can't wait to see what you do with them.
So close! You can do it!!
Love the wood lily one especially :o)
