My official procrastination project is Kaffe'-O-Lait. It's coming along nicely. Here is my latest block. And although I adore orange, I'm not really a fan of peach. But it is just one block among many.
I like this one much better.
So anyway...on Monday I was distracted by a little stack of 2 1/2 inch squares of the new line, Simply Color. My plan (because I actually came up with a plan) was to start a leaders and enders quilt. While I was working on Kaffe'-O-Lait, I sewed each square with a white/snow (whatever....) square.
Knowing there were other more important projects to work on,
Nine nine-patch blocks (one is going on the back). I was going to alternate them with white squares. And then decided to think outside the box. My good friend, Elizabeth, and I had a conversation last week about the merits of grey. I happen to be a huge fan of grey. She thinks you need to be careful because sometimes grey can drain the life out of a quilt. I suggested she write a post about it and call it Fifty Shades of Grey. Ha!
Okay. No grey this time. Instead I chose a soft Kona Aqua.
Don't they look pretty together?
I'm linking up to Lee. Maybe someone else has been procrastinating in the last week.
Oh, don't forget there is a giveaway of a charm pack and some scraps, open until tomorrow.

I also had a week of procrastination and instead of basting quilts I made a couple of skirts :) Much more exciting I think!
They do look beautiful!
My procrastination has been so bad, I doing NO sewing at all! Love the aqua with your nine patch project!
I am always getting sidetracked from the sewing I "should" be doing with another sewing project.
Your quilts look great.
Gorgeous! For me, the last few months have been chock full of procrastinating! I agree with Elizabeth...especially when it comes to the ashy grey. Love the aqua!
Lol, I haven't got time to procrastinate right now ;o) Still, the back's looking good despite the unsewing...
I'm very good at procrastinating! And the Paralympics are providing excellent 'sit on the settee and EPP' opportunities...all day every day ;o)
I am often procrastinting and start other distraction projects. I happen to LOVE your Kaffe'-O-Lait blocks though. Can't wait to see that one done.
Amanda
Love your nine-patches! The aqua looks great!
I think I have sewing ADD. I jump from one project to another all the time. My UFO pile is huge and if I don't start working on some of them I will be barried under the avalanche when it falls over. I usually have two or three project going at once. I like to think on things sometimes before I move forward.
Oh, I like the peach! (Also, I had a very similar kona issue recently! I was in the middle of a quilt top and couldn't find more of the same color of kona. Too white for snow, too cream for white! UGH! Luckily I ended up with enough to finish my project!)
And I also have quilting ADD. When I have a deadline, I can't help but start something non-critical!
oh, you're so funny- 50 shades of gray!!! Ha!ha! Love all the great projects you're working on.
I just love your blocks. They are so beautiful by themselves and even better all together! 50 Shades of Gray. Snort. Love it.
I didn't know there was a name for it, a leaders and enders quilt, but I've got one in the works as well!
Procrastination is my middle name right now ;)
Loving your blocks x
I agree on grey's life-draining properties, which is why I'm stocking up on greys with a slight pattern to them these days, instead of flat solids. I love your sweet 9-patches with the light aqua! Great choice.
I love how all these blocks look up on your design wall! Very pretty! Thanks for being honest about distractions. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who finds ways to distract myself from what needs to be done! :)
I absolutely get that procrastination thing! But really, when your procrastination is so pretty and productive, why not go for it! ;)
yum. love the kafe name!
the up side of havig procrastination PROJECT is then at least you get something done instead of nothing which is what i usually do :) valpal
Really good topic for the day. I love the projects you shared! And the aqua looks great with the nine patches. I have been putting off finishing my mom's quilted placemats. I just started working on the last two about 30 minutes ago. Now to just stay focused!!! Laura A
Procrastination is the only way I get anything done :-) Love both your projects and I agree with Elizabeth that grey can be tricky. I have a knack for picking the life draining shades even though I love it. Oh well. Your aqua choice is perfect!
Love the procrastination!! It works so well :) You know I love orange too but I think peach is growing on me - sometimes a bit of softness is nice and that's a great block!
This made me laugh and laugh. Fifty Shades of Grey--the research would be daunting. . .
Okay, enough on that and lets talk about those quilts. TERRIFIC! Love the nine-patch. I am a firm believer in starting another project while you're trying to slog through a longer-term project. I'm doing the same thing with my Portuguese Tile Quilt tucking in the middle of the Lollypop Tree quilt. See, we're totally on the same brainwave!
