Really Random Thursday, 1/17/13

Come ON, 2013! It's like you are trying to convince me that the Year of the Snake (shudder....) is off to a somewhat questionable start.

I've been wearing this most of the week, in addition to prescription anti-inflammatory medication and a cortisone shot.
Uncomfortable and inconvenient. I am a totally compliant patient still did some rotary cutting.
Heather tagged me in Instagram to make sure I saw this picture from the  Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild. At first I couldn't figure out why. Wait....! That's a picture of my strippy tripalong quilt!
And then there were these comments--kind of a conversation going on between two Instagrammers:

It kind of made my day.

Sometimes "yellow" doesn't refer to a color. Sometimes it is just a really good song by one of my favorite groups.
It's been cold here. I scrape ice off my windshield in the mornings. I know--that sounds wimpy to all of you who are scraping massive ice and shoveling mountains of snow. Mark took this picture yesterday morning--this is what happens when you irrigate during a cold snap here in the valley: icicles form at the bottoms of the trees in your orchard.

I found this piece of mail more than a little insulting:
But I might have a hard time resisting the offer: 13 issues for $10!!

This little guy is feeling better. (And I never get tired of looking at this picture). He is now walking.
We have had an outdoor skating rink downtown for the last couple of months. Last weekend was the, well, the last weekend. Aaron called and invited me to tag along Saturday afternoon. I didn't skate. I already had one limb in a splint. But I was helpful when it came to holding jackets.
Side note: riding on a Zamboni is on my bucket list.

Your turn:

Oh no! What have you done to your thumb/hand/wrist? Hope it gets better soon...but it won't if you don't take any notice of the doctor's instructions *wink* Take care xx

P.S. Glad the little one is feeling better!

Oh, that looks so uncomfortable. I hope it heals soon and you are back at it!

Yowie on the hand (I'm a terribly non-compliant patient too when it comes to these sorts of things) hope it feels better soon!

Looks like a fun rest of the week otherwise! BTW, did you not virtually ride a Zamboni on google yesterday? ;o)

So sorry to hear that the year isn't exactly starting off the way you had hoped! I also wanted to let you know that thanks to you, I now have a huge jar that I'm using for collecting my selvages ;)

Your strippy trip-along is gorgeous. It's so fun to see how many people are making them right now :-)

-7 here this morning. It's warming up ; ) the thing on your hand must be a nuisance. Hope you can get back to normal routine soon. Cute little jigger too

I had really bad arthritis pain in my hands for awhile a few years back and I had to wear one of those on each hand. It didn't seem to help and I became noncompliant and threw them under the sink for storage. Thankfully, now they really only bother me in the mornings when it's cool and wet outside (today oddly enough...)

I love your random lists. They make me smile as does the picture of your grandson. ;)

Sorry to hear about your hand. Hope it heals real soon;)

Didn't like that mail? Just wait, it gets worse the older you get. And during the year before you turn 65, EVERYBODY wants you to sign up for their Medicare supplement plan! Grandpa gets lots of mail these days! ;)

What happened to your hand, I'm fighting a bad case of trigger thumb right now... Know what caused it? Yep..holding the ruler for rotary cutting..

Bummer to see you wearing a brace on your hand. I bet you're probably not supposed to be using a rotary cutting tool. I do love that Sunset magazine, no matter how to you get it.

Oh....I'm so sorry about your hand...hope you heal fast. After breaking mine last year, I know how hard it is. What's a Zamboni?

Hope you get well soon!!!

Get that hand all mended soon!
January is proving to be rather un-randon so far; maybe if we get the snow we are forecast tonight, they may be some snaps worth taking xxx

This is fun. (Except the hand.) Your grandkids are so cute!

Get better real soon! That doesn't look very nice at all (the arm, I mean!)

That brace is looking serious! I hope you are back to normal soon.

OOoh. Thats sad. Hope it settles down soon... and I hope you can still hold a desert spoon with that brace.

Hope your hand is better quickly! I don't know if I could keep from quilting either. ;)

I love Coldplay! I've been listening to Pandora while I sew and they come up on my fav channel quite a bit! Feel better!

Zamboni riding/driving? Definitely! I hope your hand feels better - that is no fun whatsoever… I think they say that garlic is good for inflammation though less good for your social life. Cherries are supposed to be good, too.

Hum... I didn't get that offer, and in my case it would be appropriate. I must live in the wrong part of the country.

Thanks for the linky party.

Dude! They are ripping off Senior Citizens! I only pay $8/year for my Sunset subscription!! :) My mom turned 55 last year and she was SO excited. Finally she could eat the smaller portions off the senior citizen side of the menu (she doesn't eat much) without hassle and she gets to go to the senior discount days on Tuesday at retailers. She cracks me up.

What have you done to your hand? Hope it improves soon. I live in a region of Australia which has a similar climate to California, so scraping frost of the car is about as inconvenient as winter gets for us too. But I do love seeing frosts in vineyards, very pretty!
