Really Random Thursday: 9/12/13

Welcome, fellow randomeers.

Let's get to it.

Random cleverness in advertising.

Mark brought home some farm fresh eggs. Aren't they prettiest colors?
Our son called last night and said they were starting to read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. The kids didn't know what a "wardrobe" was. Glad I could help by sending over a picture of one of my favorite pieces of furniture, a beautiful wardrobe from England that lives in my sewing room.
A friend made sure I saw this card. I have no clue why...
I guess I could also substitute the word "fabric." How about you?

One of my favorite bloggers of all time, Monica from Quilt While You're Ahead (she is going to be playing the Name Game--so excited) had this on her blog this week. She said I could borrow it. Even though my biggest phobia is the slithery thing in this cartoon, I laughed out loud.
So it seems we have a  yarn theme going on here. I had such a good time crocheting the Lego afghan for Levi, I started one for his sister, in pinks, lavender and grey.
This picture makes me laugh for two reasons. First, I posted each of these two pictures on Flickr, and got a nice comment from someone named Bruce about the picture on the left.

This is outstanding! Any kid would love to have that on their bed - I know mine would. (Though i have to admit as a LEGO collector I cringe a little at this being displayed with Megablox toys.)

Isn't that last part funny? I was actually happy with myself for these staging props. Oops. But it's a good reminder that when you tag pictures, you just never know who will be looking at them, right?

The second funny thing: Levi now wants me to teach him to "CROQUET." Precious.

Your turn.

Brilliant random!! Those eggs are just beautiful!
The blanket is adorable and I love the girly version already, I kind of think Bruce should have one too ;)

Enjoy you thoughts on life today! It is fun to teach a youngster how to crochet. Especially a grandchild! Have fun with it.

Your wardrobe is gorgeous! I love the lego afghan too. I think the staging is perfect - unles you want to crochet tiny blocks!

Yeah, somehow The Lion, The Witch And The Closet doesn't trip off the tongue in the same way ;o) I'm with Lucy, Bruce totally needs one now!

I admire anyone who can knit or crochet poperly. When I crochet it looks like I intended to make ugly hard potholders.

Random detail: We here in Austria are not used to closets in every room. We have wardrobes in every sleeping room for our clothes. If you ask an Austrian for a "closet" he will probably show you to the toilet (which is usually in a different room than the bathroom, bathrooms mostly just have sinks, bathtubes/showers) because we refer to the toilet room as "Klosett" or "Klo", short for water closet. :)

Well, now I want to make a lego afghan, too! Where did you find the pattern?

Best get your mallet out for the next visit!
As for not knowing what a wardrobe is - what is the world coming to!!?

Our library has a learn to crochet program. They start by just teaching how to chain. The kids make really, really long chains before they work on the single crochet. I tried to have Norah try, only, holding the yarn and the hook is a bit clumsy!

That ad on the side of the truck is awesome!

Glad to know I'm not the only one with a slithery phobia. I have no idea how to knit or crochet. I can only handle a couple of hobbies and even then only manage to get one done.

Great post, Cindy, as always. My favorite photo (besides being so impressed with our crochet skills) is the one with the lovely eggs. I was given farm eggs once this summer and also enjoyed each of the pretty shades as I peeled my boiled egg each morning!

Love it! This blog is personal and fun. The 'girl' lego blocks are wonderful! You are such a hard working woman!

Ha! I was impressed with your staging props, too! Who knew?! Keep us posted on how the croquet lessons go!

The sign on the truck reminds me of a joke my husband told me just a few hours ago. Why doesn't Elton John like lettuce? Cos he's a rocket man! The girls Lego quilt will look brilliant too. Yep, substitute yarn for fabric or embroidery threads and the e-card will apply to me.
