Finish It Friday, 2/6/15

I have two finishes this week, a small one that I started and completed this week, and a quilt that was started several years ago.

Let's start small.

Our son and daughter-in-law will be taking a trip to the United Kingdom to attend a friend's wedding.
I like to add selvages any time I can--Laurie Wisbrun's selvages always have fun details

I found a free tutorial for a cord organizer, and thought it be great for travel and not take up too much room. You have to take cords for phones, iPads, iPods, cameras, etc., along with earbuds anyway, and if you are anything like me, they have a tendency to get all tangled.

This is such a great idea. When you open it up, it looks like this. Strips of elastic keep all the cords in place, and a detachable zippered pouch is perfect for the chargers, camera cards, etc. The pouch is held in place with snaps, or as the Brits call them, at least in this tutorial, "poppers." It made me smile every time I read that.
When you get back home, you can put a command hook on the inside of your desk and keep everything handy there as well.
So I started Denyse Schmidt's Single Girl pattern several years ago, when her Hope Valley line had only been out a short time.
I added a few rings of coordinating solids, and named it "Put a Ring On It."

I finished the top and then it sat in a pile of other unfinished projects, until finally about this time last year I decided to make backs for a stack of those WIPs. I had saved all the selvages, so I sewed them together and pieced the back.

While she doesn't do a lot of quilting for others, Molly Hanson took on the project and did it on her domestic machine. She has written a great book on quilting, from small projects to large quilts, highly recommended.

I'm so happy this quilt is completed!
I'm linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts and TGIFF.

Have a lovely weekend.

Great projects, both of them. But I truly love the Single Girl Quilt. I would love to make one of those some day. Yours is gorgeous!

Two gorgeous projects! Whereabouts in the UK is the wedding?

P.S. We Brits are more likely to call them 'press studs' - I've always thought that 'poppers' was the US version!

Thanks for the link to the cord organizer tutorial. I've been looking for one of those! Yours turned out really well. That selvage is wicked good! And don't get me started on the Single Girl quilt. I've been eyeing that pattern forever. Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!

Lovely! I've heard that it is a little bit of a challenging quilt to create....How proud you must be of all of your finishes in 2015!

What a great finish to get that single girl pattern done! The quilting really goes well with the block design--bravo to both of you. Love the cord organizer! I've tried several--maybe I should try this one? I hope your son and his wife have a great time. In fact I've been thinking of you all day, because isn't this the week you are watching the grandkids? Hang in there!
