A couple months later, there was an opportunity to work with two beautiful fabric lines, Artisan Cottons by Another Point of View and Heavy Metals by Whistler Studios, both for Windham Fabrics. I knew these were the perfect fabrics for Pattern Play.
Pattern wise, I had nothing to go on except these 4" cards, but it was fairly easy to figure out that the strips should be 1" finished and the blocks would be 10" x 10" finished.
Some blocks were easy.
Quite a few had a higher degree of difficulty.
I used this fabulous fabric, also by Windham, for the backing. The bonus? It is 108" wide so there was no need for any seams on the back! Which was a good thing, because by then I was completely over trying to figure anything out!
I'm so happy with how the quilt turned out. The fabrics are rich in color, and the two lines, Artisan Cottons and Heavy Metals, play so well together. I think Pattern Play is the perfect name, don't you?

Gorgeous! What a wonderful mix of colors! I love the heavy metal fabric. It's hard not to see 'quilt' in so many things. Theres inspiration everywhere!
I love that quilters see quilts in everything! :) This looks like so much fun to figure out and put together. Love the colors, the sashing, and the backing is just perfect.
It looks great and I love the idea of that set of blocks!
Wow, great quilt!
Gorgeous Cindy. Pattern Play is the perfect name. I'm amazed at how complex the designs are too. Can definitely see how it would be a challenge for a child or a quilter to replicate them. Well done!!
Very cool.
I love it! What a cool way to use up all those little pieces of fabric also. I think I need some pattern play cards.
That is fabulous, but I can imagine the nightmare of figuring it all out. The name is perfect.
Amazing! How long did this take you? I love all the colors - Nice.
Wow Cindy - another beauty!
so completely brilliant!
What an inspiration. I will be thinking about this all day, no all week!
oh this is fun! Of course you had to make a quilt!! ;-) What a fun challenge. I love it!
Very fun. I love your outdoor quilt studio near your little cottage--so wonderful! This quilt was a fun way to explore design and pattern in using your incredible talent with color. Well done!
