The Name Game: Bijou Lovely

I have always wanted to meet Holly DeGroot in person. Last year at just this very time, we were both at QuiltCon in Austin. We both happened to be in the same aisle of the quilt show, and suddenly I became totally star struck and completely tongue tied. I really wanted to tap her on the shoulder and introduce myself. But I stood there like a statue and watched her walk away. So weird.
All that to say, I'm so happy to have her playing along this week.
How did you choose the name for your blog?
I named my blog after my great grandmother. Her name was Bijou. She was an artist and one of my favorite people, so I wanted to honor her in some way. I added the word "Lovely" to the end because I felt like it needed something else! I had planned to share mostly my sewing projects and other inspirational type posts on my blog, so "Lovely" seemed like a good description for that!
Were there other names you considered, and can you share them with us?
I honestly don't remember if I considered other names! I started my blog in 2009 so it was awhile ago. I think I had the name in mind even before then!
Now that you are known by Bijou Lovely, are you happy with it or do you wish you could change it?
I still like the name Bijou Lovely! I just have trouble deciding if I should stick with it or switch to my real name (Holly DeGroot) for certain things! I would never change to another name other than my own.

Thanks so much for playing this week, Holly.

You will definitely want to check out her blog. She is a fabulous photographer, and I keep trying to figure out a way to make my sewing room look like hers. If nothing else, you will get some cool storage ideas for your own studio and enjoy all the beautiful pictures of Holly's studio. Also, follow her on Instagram: @bijoulovely.

You won't want to miss next week. We have a bonus day this year, it falls on a Monday. Our special guest will be Pam Vieira-McGinnis, aka Pam Kitty Morning!
