May 25, Yellowstone!

We got to Yellowstone about mid morning on Friday, May 25, entering through the West entrance, heading toward Old Faithful Inn. One of the first things we saw were bison in the distance. I took pictures, not knowing we would see many, many bison over the four days we were in Yellowstone, and they would be very close.
Our first stop was the Artist Paintpots--something we remembered from our honeymoon. Mark and I remember parking on the side of the road and taking a dirt path around the paintpots. Now Yellowstone has well-maintained walkways throughout the park.

 Gibbon Falls.

The weather forecast had been threatening rain while we were in Yellowstone. Friday afternoon was clear so we decided we better take advantage of that and view the geysers across from the Inn.

Old Faithful was one of the first to go off, not surprising since it erupts with regularity about every 90 minutes.

The loop consisted of both pools and geyers.

I think this is Spasmodic Geyser.

 Morning Glory.

After dinner, we went to Midway Geyser Basin to watch the sun set.

On the trail we saw this large family.
And meanwhile, back at home, my mother celebrated her 90th birthday with Aaron, Christa and the kids.

  4. Thanks for sharing Yellowstone. We haven't been there since Emily was just a baby. I had to take a close look at that family photo in the red shirts. For second I almost thought it was Justin's nephew but then counted kids. They only have 7.
