Quilts by the Water: Diving Board, Fresno, California

Diving Board is a quilt I made back in 2017 when I was given a chance to be one of the "ambassadors" for Cotton Cuts, a company that delivers quilting fabric based on your preferences.

As an ambassador, I was sent three one-yard cuts of Alison Glass's fabric from her Diving Board collection.

Two of the prints were gorgeous symmetrical prints, one in warm tones and one in cool tones. As I contemplated what to make in the short period of time I was allotted, I decided to "upsize" Delta Breeze, one of my favorite original designs ever.

The original block size was 8", so I doubled that to 16". In addition to the beautiful prints, I added coordinating solids from my stash. A deep navy proved to be the perfect background for both the warm and cool colors.

The small block looked like this:

The large block looked like this:

It went together so quickly. Included with my fabric selection was a chartreuse print that proved to be perfect for the binding.

There was enough of this print from my stash for the backing.

Darby chose a simple wave design for the quilting.
Based on the name of the fabric line, I also named the quilt Diving Board. Which made finding a diving board an obvious choice for a photo op. Luckily, good friends, Gary and Ruth, have a lovely backyard with a beautiful pool and a diving board. The beautiful blue water and the flowers in the background were just perfect.

Diving Board, indeed! Such great pictures! Finding a pool with a diving board sure can't have been as easy as it once was. I even remember HIGH diving boards being at community pools. Such "dangerous" times we grew up in, right? Your quilt is really pretty, and more so because those two colorways of Alison's Diving Board print are my favorites. They have appeared in my projects too, You've put together a pretty design, and it's very effectively quilted too. No doubt the quilt will be well-loved.

Delta Breeze remains a favorite of mine. The diving board/pool is the perfect location and name for those fabrics and your quilt. I like Alison Glass fabrics and have few small cuts but haven't done much with them yet.

Wonderful photos! And a striking quilt, I just wanted to dive right into the deep blue quilted area!
