The other thing I'm always amazed at in Fresno is that no matter what time of the year, most businesses, office complexes, even gas stations, are beautifully landscaped. That's something you don't see in the Midwest.
So I know you're thinking, "and your point is....?"
My point is that last year Mark and I finally got to go see the fall colors on the East Coast. Having never been further east than Chicago, I couldn't wait to see the fall colors. At least seeing fall colors is what we were anticipating as we went from New York City to Montreal. Here is what we actually saw:
Green.
More green.
Hey, wait, is this actually the slighest tinge of fall color??
So today I went for a walk around my neighborhood here in Fresno, and this is what I saw:
This is what I'm talking about. *sigh* Now if only the temperature would cooperate a little...

I completely agree with you on the valley weather! I think more people need to have a glass half full mentality about it :) I have noticed some beautiful colors here in my hometown as well, thanks for the gorgeous pictures.
Yesterday must have been a "leaf" day. At school we made leaf wreaths! yay!
Oh, to still have color and leaves on the trees; we are already brown! I call it "Midwestern brown blah" - aka my hair color! We are waiting for the next color -snow white.
Those are beautiful! I wish ours still looked like that. At least our grass is back to green, after being covered in white for awhile. But it's COLD.
I can't wait till next week here in Fresno. Then I can shuffle along the side walks kicking up all those beautiful orange-red-gold leaves!
The colors ARE gorgeous, especially against the fabulous bue sky. m
Ooooh! I am totally in love with Fall Colors Leaf pictures...maybe that's why I picked the fabric I picked for my fall leaves quilt? ;-)
