Really Random, 12/8/11

We were at the coast last weekend. I hate to keep rubbing it in may have already mentioned it.

Day:
Night:

One of my favorite quilt shops is in this little seaside town, Quiltin' Cousins. The owner, Shawn Lombardo, is awesome and funny. I could talk to her for hours. And sometimes, if the shop is not busy, I do visit for hours. Her shop was originally a cottage. A little cottage. 900 square feet.
But she knows how to purchase the best variety of fabric in her little gem of a shop. Here she is, cutting some fabulous Tammis Keefe Christmas fabric for me.
I came home with a nice little stack of fabric:
She also made this super cool miniature of her shop. It is about a foot in size. The detail is amazing.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...I was able to purchase a whole bolt of Kona snow from Tammy at Marmalade Fabrics. Awesome.
So what are the holidays like on the Central Coast of California?

Let's see...they have to import the snow from somewhere else (see the little kid in the santa hat and shorts?)
They decorate the fish:
And sunbathing means a bikini, a jacket and a stocking cap!

The end.

Looks like a fun weekend! That quilt shop/cottage looks so tiny. How fun to get to visit them on your mini vaca. Love those cute Christmasy fabrics. Any plans for them yet?

Ha ha ha! Import snow! Bikini/parka sunbathing! Ha ha ha!

Looks like a grand trip!

We are anxiously (some of us) waiting for snow. A white Christmas would be lovely.

Gorgeous photos - there's no way you'd contemplate standing still on my local beach at the moment no matter how many clothes you were wearing, never mind wearing a bikini!!

How have I missed that shop in all of my years traveling there? I know about the one in Arroyo Grande, but not this one. I will have to check it out when I get up there again. It looks darling!

We've just been programmed to believe that Christmas should have snow, and be cold. In fact, don't you think baby Jesus was born in a temperate climate? Warmth? Sand? It's nice to see how everyone celebrates, wherever they live.

Yeah, I liked this post! Looks like a great trip. And, for whatever reason, I like seeing a whole bolt of Kona snow purchased by someone I know. Maybe someday it'll happen to me!
