Leap Day Superiority

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. This giveaway is open until Friday, 3/2, at 6 p.m. PST.

Are you excited? It's Leap Day. And it is Superior Threads giveaway day!! This might not happen for another four years so you better take advantage of it today.

Elizabeth and I were co-conspirators for this fabulous giveaway idea. I had been wanting to get the word out about Superior Threads, and it just so happens that Elizabeth is friends with Bob and Heather (also known as Mother Superior--don't you love it?) Purcell, the owners of Superior Threads. So when Elizabeth and I had the chance to meet in person at the Road2California quilt show in January, the plan was hatched. And Bob and Heather agreed to supply the thread.
I have been a fan of Superior Threads for years. While they offer a great variety of thread, in a magnificent variety of colors, I have mostly used Masterpiece for piecing and King Tut for machine quilting. Superior is in the process of changing all their 50 wt. Masterpiece thread from two-ply to three-ply. This is extra long staple Egyptian cotton that my machines love and it creates hardly any lint.

But if 100% cotton isn't what you are looking for, how about polyester, metallic, or silk?

And I'm definitely planning something for my grandchildren using this cool glow-in-the-dark thread!
The other fabulous thing about Superior is that their website is packed with information. Do you have questions about tension? Thread-specific questions? They have that, and lots more, including troubleshooting and lots of reference guides, a Deal of the Day, a Thread of the Month club, and their newsletter, which includes Bob's joke of the month, reason enough to sign up.

But you're really waiting for the giveaway info, right? Including my blog, go check out all these other fabulous quilters, each offering a chance to try some Superior thread.

Elizabeth from Occasional Piece-Quilt!

Lee from Freshly Pieced

Sherri from A Quilting Life

Leanne from She Can Quilt

Thelma from Cupcakes 'n' Daisies

Jeni from In Color Order

Amy from During Quiet Time

Carla from Lollyquiltz

Jennifer from That Girl, That Quilt

Corey from Little Miss Shabby

Terri from Sew-Fantastic

Here at Live a Colorful Life, just leave a comment  for a chance to win.
The giveaway ends at Thursday, March 1, at 6 p.m. PST.  One winner will receive three spools--two Masterpiece and one King Tut.

The other winner will receive two spools--one Masterpiece and one King Tut--along with coordinating fat quarters of fabric.

It's always fun to ask a comment question because I get the most interesting answers. Let's see...

Okay, how about this? Do you know anyone with a birthday today? Or do you have any special plans for Leap Day?

Well, that was certainly clever.

If you want to leap out on a limb and become a follower (or tell me you already are a follower), that would be cool too.

Also, my friend, Deborah (Simply Miss Luella) is having a fun fabric giveaway, so be sure to head over there as well!

Let the LEAPING begin!

Glow in the dark looks so interesting! I have used both threads and love both lines. I know a set of twins who are 15 today!

No, but I always wondered what they do about their birthday! Nothing special here for leap day...although the kids are on the trampoline....leaping away...

Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone I know that has a birthday today, so I guess the answer to that is No. What I do know is that I love King Tut threads lol. And I've used the Masterpiece too so I would love to win this giveaway.

I used to work in the delivery room and we always wondered how many deliveries we would have on Leap Day. When do they celebrate - a day ahead or a day after??? No big plans here for the day.

Well, I'm a labor and delivery nurse, and I can tell you that we had three babies born on February 29!

I always like hearing what threads other quilters use. I use King Tut, Natures Colors and Bottom Line all the time. For Leap Day I was out with a program through our guild teaching quilting to a group of women. These women are in a program to better themselves and improve their lives through education and a variety of learning opportunities. It was a joy to help them and even though there was a language barrier we still got the blocks made and laughed. I am a follower of your blog from Hillsboro Oregon.

That glow in the dark thread is awesome! I hadn't heard of it before and now I'm gonna HAVE to get some :) Now, about Leap Day. My almost-eight-year-old was almost born on leap day. I begged my ob to induce that day, but no dice. Right now he's pretty happy they didn't do it - he's at that age where missing birthdays is NOT cool :)

KatieQ said... #

My husband's uncle Frank has a Leap Day birthday. We took him to lunch for yesterday for his "18th" birthday. When my children were little, they loved telling their friends that they had an uncle who only had a birthday once every four years. The other kids were horrified at the idea.

Hi Cindy, Superior Threads are the BOMB! Once I started using them several months ago, I will not use any other thread! Yesterday being Leap Day, I spent the day quilting and getting my quilt ready to bind. As for knowing someone that had a birthday today I can't say that I do. The one Superior Thread I haven't used is the glow in the dark but I will before 2012 is over!! I would love to win any of the items you are giving away. Thank you again and Good luck Everyone!!
