Really Random Thursday: And the first linky party!

I was going through my picture folders trying to find a specific picture. Wow, what disarray my photos are in! Do you have that problem too? Or are you completely organized and have a great system so you can locate a picture at the snap of a finger? If so, please share.

Since this is (hopefully) the first linky party, I'm concentrating more on hoping that it works than trying to have some quality random things to share. Besides that, in the last week the temp has hovered around 102 to 106 degrees. I've been inside, and nothing really random has been happening. Other than my sewing room going from disaster to clean back to disaster. But that's not actually so random...

So let's just go with this, in random order:

Quilty barn art seen in southern Minnesota.
Gabe turned nine months (already!). If you are new here, I'm spelling out his name over the course of his first year.

Ruby turned six months (already!). And check out the awesome selvage inserted on the front.

This is one of my favorite recent pictures.
Mark had a custom order for these two platters. Black glass framed with gorgeous squares of dichroic glass. I wish you could see them in person as they are just stunning.

Picture from the plane on the way home from Minnesota after our layover in Seattle.
This is the picture I was searching for. Huh? I pulled a flower vase out of the kitchen cabinet and the bobbin was inside. Why? No clue...how random.
Okay. You're up.

How intriguing finding a bobbin inside the vase! And the glass platters are beautiful- even from over here! Think I might do a 'random' post.....thinking, thinking?!

Hey, I believe I recognize that barn! Like maybe I drove by it yesterday? I suppose if I went back and took a pic of it and posted it, that might not be qualified as "random", huh?

Yay for the linky - I will 'adapt' today's post, which was looking a little random anyway!

Love the bobbin in the vase. Today I saw a twisty tie jammed down in a beautiful aqua vase at my daughter's house....hmmm....I wonder which little person put that in there?!

I love the glass platters!!! I missed the first linky party but will try to join in...at some point! I'm afraid I'm terrible at remembering to post on a certain day so it may be a few weeks before I get to Wednesday and think 'It's really random Thursday tomorrow, I'll write a post' - I will try though ;o)

Ah ha! Something I've done right! Our photos are completely organized! Truth be told, it took three weeks to get them that way! With hubby's help, I removed every single photograph from every single photo album - about 18 of them. So glad we did that as some of the pictures had deteriorated and came off damaged. Then, with my printer/scanner at my side, I individually scanned every photo worth keeping. The ones not worth keeping were scenery from long ago visited, unrecognizable, places. I scanned about 2,300 photos, organized them in files according to years, and finally burned CDs. Four CDs: one for us, one for each of our two kids, and one for the safety deposit box! You cannot imagine how freeing it is to have done this. When we die, no one has to decide what to do with piles of photo albums. The biggest hurdle is simply making yourself take the time to do it.

I'm sorry I didn't get a post up this week. I will join in later! I haven't blogged much since being home from retreat at Gruber's, because I've been traveling almost nonstop ever since.

Love Mark's platters!

And my photos are in complete disarray. I have no idea how to organize them well. That's one reason I haven't blogged much lately!
