Really Random Thursday, 8/16/12

Do you ever play that game, 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon? Like how many degrees are you separated from someone famous? Or even just a blogging friend. Or blogging FRIEND.

I'm 2 degrees from my blogging friend, Amy Friend.  Stephanie (on the left) and I are friends, and she got to spend time with Amy. So I'm getting closer. For now. And one of these days Amy and I will meet in real life.
And this is probably a good place to show you (again...) the picture of my entry into Amy's contest, Texting While Sewing.
Why do I keep showing it? Because I wanted to show you the next picture. It made it to Flickr Explorer--500 pictures are chosen day--I was number 134 on August 10! I would not have known about it as I always forget about Explorer, but some nice person left me a comment that it had been included.
I'm not much of a sports car fan. I have driven solid Hondas since Aaron was in 7th grade. The big change for me was changing to a silver Honda after four white Hondas. But I do like this little beauty.
I work out of my house as a medical transcriber. While one of my doctors sends and receives all my work digitally, I still have to pick up a little microcassette tape each morning from my other doctor. Her office is next to the hospital emergency room.

We haven't been treated to one of Mark's "drive-by shootings" recently. So here is a picture he took the other day on what looks to be a fairly "normal" road.
What? Can't quite read what that sign says?Yikes!
While we are on the theme of cars and driving, parking can sometimes be a huge inconvenience. I give the parking company extra points for choosing a great color for their sign.
However, any time after, oh, say 8:30 a.m., they should switch their sign to this:
(Why, yes, I DO love the Be Calm app on my iPhone--thanks for asking)

Have I mentioned that it has been hot here? HOT. Sizzling. This was the temp in Mark's truck the other day.
We broke a record this morning--for the highest low. Does that even make sense? The low was 85, the highest "low" since something like 1933 when it was 80. I hate breaking records like that.Combine that with the fact that Mark has started refereeing football. And that he reffed a scrimmage on Saturday. Because the higher powers in charge thought moving the game from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. would be fine. Personally, I think canceling the game would have been a better solution. But as they say, the game must go on.
However, there are ways to beat the heat. Going to a water park. Such fun.

I can't end this really random post without something sewing related, yet extremely random: another use for Aurifil 50wt thread, brought to you by the extremely charming Lucy from Charm About You. Make sure you don't miss this post. Seriously. That's all I'm going to say.
Now what about you? Have random things been happening to you too? Please share.

Congrats on the Flick'r Explore entry! I don't even know how that works! Nor the "Be Calm" app! And here down under, if the weather reaches over about 95 degrees most amateur sport is cancelled! Stay cool!

Those signs are hilarious! The water park looks amazing - I could do with that I'm always roasting at the moment!!
Thanks for the shout out, today's randomness is a bit pathetic but the kids had fun, which is what matters :)

How in the world did you find a time at the splash park without a million other children being there? Everytime I've been it is packed! Good for you and good for Charlotte and Levi :)

It sounds like the water is the best relief for those temperatures. Yikes.

I would be more concerned about the number 1313 for my doctor - almost a double jinx!!!

Inteesting use for the thread. Who knew?

I love your version of the parking sign! My goodness it's hot where you are. Perhaps I won't complain about the wet summer we've had over here:-)

Love your random posts!!! I laughed out loud at Lucy's clever use for Auriril... I'll never be able to look at a spool of Aurifil the same way again :*)

How cool that your iPhone block made it to Flick'r Explore! Is that road sign for real? While the US has had record hot and dry summer, we've had record cool and wet summer here in Norway. I saw Lucy's post the other day and laughed so I almost cried!

Sounds like it is time to go for a picnic on Shaver Lake. It has to be cooler there!
