I'm 2 degrees from my blogging friend, Amy Friend. Stephanie (on the left) and I are friends, and she got to spend time with Amy. So I'm getting closer. For now. And one of these days Amy and I will meet in real life.
And this is probably a good place to show you (again...) the picture of my entry into Amy's contest, Texting While Sewing.
Why do I keep showing it? Because I wanted to show you the next picture. It made it to Flickr Explorer--500 pictures are chosen day--I was number 134 on August 10! I would not have known about it as I always forget about Explorer, but some nice person left me a comment that it had been included.
I'm not much of a sports car fan. I have driven solid Hondas since Aaron was in 7th grade. The big change for me was changing to a silver Honda after four white Hondas. But I do like this little beauty.
I work out of my house as a medical transcriber. While one of my doctors sends and receives all my work digitally, I still have to pick up a little microcassette tape each morning from my other doctor. Her office is next to the hospital emergency room.
We haven't been treated to one of Mark's "drive-by shootings" recently. So here is a picture he took the other day on what looks to be a fairly "normal" road.
What? Can't quite read what that sign says?Yikes!
While we are on the theme of cars and driving, parking can sometimes be a huge inconvenience. I give the parking company extra points for choosing a great color for their sign.
However, any time after, oh, say 8:30 a.m., they should switch their sign to this:
(Why, yes, I DO love the Be Calm app on my iPhone--thanks for asking)
Have I mentioned that it has been hot here? HOT. Sizzling. This was the temp in Mark's truck the other day.
We broke a record this morning--for the highest low. Does that even make sense? The low was 85, the highest "low" since something like 1933 when it was 80. I hate breaking records like that.Combine that with the fact that Mark has started refereeing football. And that he reffed a scrimmage on Saturday. Because the higher powers in charge thought moving the game from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. would be fine. Personally, I think canceling the game would have been a better solution. But as they say, the game must go on.
However, there are ways to beat the heat. Going to a water park. Such fun.Now what about you? Have random things been happening to you too? Please share.

Congrats on the Flick'r Explore entry! I don't even know how that works! Nor the "Be Calm" app! And here down under, if the weather reaches over about 95 degrees most amateur sport is cancelled! Stay cool!
Those signs are hilarious! The water park looks amazing - I could do with that I'm always roasting at the moment!!
Thanks for the shout out, today's randomness is a bit pathetic but the kids had fun, which is what matters :)
Wow! That's a high low!!! Thankfully, we should hit 70 today... my kind of temp!
Lol, I'll link up when I get home :o) Hope Mark got to play at that waterpark too after he was done with the game!
I love everything in this post. I absolutely adore your entry for Amy's contest. You are so going to win. now I don't know if I should enter mine. It's boring! I love your Patient Parking signs. What a hoot to relate those. I'll have to check out that app. I love those T-birds, too. That water park looks just like one in Florida I've seen Was it in CA?
How in the world did you find a time at the splash park without a million other children being there? Everytime I've been it is packed! Good for you and good for Charlotte and Levi :)

Hi cindy....don't you just love an aqua Thurnderbird?! I've seen a pretty yellow one around KC too. Hope it cools off soon or your grass will look like mine!!
It sounds like the water is the best relief for those temperatures. Yikes.
I would be more concerned about the number 1313 for my doctor - almost a double jinx!!!
Inteesting use for the thread. Who knew?
I love your version of the parking sign! My goodness it's hot where you are. Perhaps I won't complain about the wet summer we've had over here:-)
This post was so funny! We had a 90 degree day and were thankful for a splash park too! Janice
Love your random posts!!! I laughed out loud at Lucy's clever use for Auriril... I'll never be able to look at a spool of Aurifil the same way again :*)
How cool that your iPhone block made it to Flick'r Explore! Is that road sign for real? While the US has had record hot and dry summer, we've had record cool and wet summer here in Norway. I saw Lucy's post the other day and laughed so I almost cried!
Sounds like it is time to go for a picnic on Shaver Lake. It has to be cooler there!
Great post Cindy! I love your texting entry and so cool that Flickr picked it up!!! I'll have to check into that be calm app...it's one of my daughter's favorite.
I love your Really Random posts!! I've got to check out that Be Calm app. I have tried for two weeks to get a random post done. I think I'm just too OCD...seriously ;-)But they are so fun!! Maybe I can relax a little and try next week :)
I love the road/parking signs and congratulations on explore!!
P.S. Damn, I forgot random Thursday again!!
thanks for hosting another fun Really Random thursday! (and for leaving the link open so some of us can have Really Random fridays!) have a great weekend :)
Okay, maybe a couple more. I loved your link up to the Aurifil girl. You truly never know what you're going to learn about on the web.
And CONGRATULATIONS for hitting Flickr print. You rock. Totally.
Elizabeth
