Choose Your Own Block-Along, 1/12/15

As I mentioned last week, I really want to power through the Tula Pink City Sampler blocks so the Christmas fabric can be put away. In the meantime, there is only one more block remaining in the "Rectangles" section.

The blocks for this week included two green and white blocks, numbers 22 and 31,

and two red and white blocks, numbers 26 and 33.

Of course in both cases the background fabric showed through the white. So here they are on my design wall. Ah...much better.
I also worked on a block for Rene' for the Mid Century Modern bee, a little late as it was due in December. Having never made a Dresden plate before, I found it to be a lot of fun and it made me contemplate making a Dresden plate quilt of my own. Although I think enlisting the help of bee members might be the way to go.
What have you been working on this week? My goal for 2015 is to sew from my stash and finish as many projects as possible that have been on the shelves and just waiting for some attention.

I want to start the year by thanking everyone who takes the time to stop by and leave a comment. I appreciate you all so very much.

Well good morning! Your blocks are coming along beautifully. I want to try and sew from my stash too this year, but I see all the pretties as they come in to the shop. What's a quilter to do?

Sounds like we have the same goals this year...

Yes, I'm aiming to use what I already have before I buy more. Let's see how long that plan works for. I love reading your blog. It's always so bright and colourful.

I can't wait to see your Tula Pink City Sampler finished - it's going to be wonderful! Love the colors on your Dresden! I was planning on making Texas Tears but I had to order ink and it won't be here until next week, so the only thing I can work on are my microwave plate potholders! Not nearly as fun!!!

I've also been making my first Dresden block but mine has yet to get a centre! Love the colours in your block - gorgeous!

I love the Dresden plate block you made. It's so vibrant. And really makes me want to make one of my own now.

Love your Dresden. I'd like to make a Dresden quilt too after making Rene's block. And I'm right there with you in trying to sew from my stash. Might need to unsubscribe to all those fabric newsletters so I'm not tempted everyday.

Good luck conquering Christmas!

I've made a dresden for the front of a bag, but I think you're right, it needs a bee to make them so you don't slit your wrists ;o)

Beautiful dresden! I must try that too,

Gosh, you're keeping up well with your blocks. And the one you made for René is lovely! You must have the Zimmerman ruler to get your center that size. I didn't, and it's apparent from the way my block turned out. Good for you to sew from stash. Does it count that if you buy new fabric, put it in your cupboard, and then sew with it right away, you've also "sewn from stash"?!
