Really Random Thursday, 4/9/15

Oops, forgot it was Thursday already.

If you have read Really Random the past couple of weeks, you will remember that I have posted pictures of both Mark and me going through the carwash and pretending we were having actual "weather" here in the central valley of California.

Well, this week we had actual weather! He had to make a trip Tuesday to Lodi, a town outside of Sacramento, so I rode along. We finally had rain. So please excuse me posting pictures if you see this kind of sky on a regular basis. I need to document it so I can come back here and remember what something other than blue skies or smoggy skies look like.

This is actual rain on the windshield, not from a carwash but from the sky!
I took these within the same minute--rainbow to the left, beautiful clouds to the right.

I loved the contrast of the grey and white clouds.
Mark was in Lodi to see the sanctuary of the church where the West Coast Mennonite Men's Chorus will be having a concert to raise money for Third World relief on April 19. This coffee cart was in the foyer. Don't you love the halo over the steaming cup of coffee?
The MCC sale, where over 200 quilts will be auctioned for charity, starts tomorrow afternoon through Saturday, always one of my favorite weekends of the year. Lots of super yummy food. One of our favorites is zweibach, not the hard teething crackers you find in the supermarket, but warm yeast rolls.I think in German zweibach translates to "two balls." It takes a skill to be able to pinch off smaller pieces of dough and place them properly on top of the larger piece of dough. Anyway, they are best warm out of the oven when you can take off the top piece and slather on some butter. Yum.....
Christa made these--she is an expert!
They sell countless dozens at the sale, so they need people to make the dough ahead of time. Christa asked whether I could watch the kids a bit tomorrow morning while she helps make the dough. I said sure, as long as she could sneak me a zweibach. You gotta love autocorrect, right? I know she meant "baked," not "naked," but it was too funny to resist making a funny comment back to her.
Years ago, I lived in Enid, Oklahoma, and went to a grade school called Garfield. I was on the track team in third and fourth grade. I remember getting this t-shirt for a big track meet that was held in a large stadium. I have had it all these years in my cedar chest. I was looking for something the other day and happened to find it. It looked just about the right size to fit Gabriel, and I thought he would enjoy the G for Gabriel.
Of course it's always more fun to make a "crazy" face.
These arrived in the mail the other day. Any introverts out there? Any wine drinkers? You can get both of them here.
And tomorrow it will be my turn on the Make It, Take It blog tour (schedule here). So be sure to come back. You just might win a copy of the book!
Anything random in your world?

Wonderful rain storms! I love those clouds too. We have been getting thunderstorms the past couple days, which has been great. But now I'm ready for some warmer temps and sunshine. Wish I had something random to contribute this week.

Oh my! I have so much to say about this post! First, my uncle visited Lodi quite frequently before he became too ill to travel. And I wish you could have been here the last week...talk about rain! It has been storming like crazy tonight! Enid, Oklahoma! Did we talk about this before? My sister...the other half of Sunny Day....lived in Enid for 8 years. Her husband was in pilot training at the AF base and then he was an instructor. So I spent a lot of time in Enid! Small world, Cindy!
