Really Random Thursday, 6/11/15

And it's Thursday already. Again.

Last week, Jill and I took four little ones to Cat Haven, in the foothills about an hour from our homes, a place that is dedicated to preserving endangered cat species. Think large cat species. Lions, tigers, oh my...
It was kind of amazing how close we were able to get to these beautiful creatures.

A few years ago, we realized that there is a winery with our family name, Wiens Family Cellars, not too far away--in Temecula, CA. No actual family connection as far as I know at this point, but it might be worth investigating...I really love wine.
Turns out they also have a fairly new brewery. Our son, who appreciates a good microbrewery beer, especially liked their logo, which looks like an eyeball. I think it is a nice touch that they give a pronunciation guide on their logo. I can't tell you how many times people either mispronounce or misspell our name.
And yesterday was....ta da....Wiensday!

My newest DIY project. I never could find a lampshade I liked. And then I saw something similar to this in a magazine. I tried to get a good picture with the Edison lightbulb on. It just didn't photograph well, but I love the pop of color from the lampshade, thanks to a shot of Valspar spray paint.
Perrier has gone patchwork. #quiltinspiration

Mark's fused glass artwork was hung in our church foyer for about a month around Easter time. We hung it in our dining room over the weekend. And added the little label that had been on the church wall. Seems so very "art gallery"-ish.
This one was a ring bearer in a wedding over the weekend.
He performed his duties flawlessly.

I needed to read this. Thanks, Ryan.

So Mark and I celebrated an anniversary this week. We have been married a long time.

Okay. 42 years. I saw this and thought it was funny. But it definitely doesn't convey how I feel about him. He is my best friend and I hope for many more years.

Remember the Animal Planet quilt? I made a smaller version that will be auctioned for charity next April. The church quilting group has completed all their hand quilting and it's so cute! Each animal's name is quilted somewhere on its body. Even though I made the top, I might have to bid on this one...

And I think I'm finally ready to start the My Small World quilt-along. I'm using the excuse that I was waiting for the fabric to arrive for my night sky. Have you been following along on Instagram? Check out all the great photos at #mysmallworldqal
I had planned on starting sooner than this, but got sidetracked by a project that was a must finish--I have lots of pictures to share tomorrow, so I hope you stop by again.

Hope your week has been a good one. Anything random happening. Do tell.

That little ring bearer is so cute.

The quilting on your project is fabulous. I'd bid on it too.

Happy anniversary. That saying is too cute!

Oh my! the ring bearer just made me smile. What a little impish grin! LOVE what those quilters have done with the animal quilt. There stitches are impeccable!

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. You seem like the ideal couple - very active with lots of interests, and a lovely family too.

Great quote. I needed to read that, too. I tend to take things very personally. Happy to know that means I'm tuned in and aware.

And in tune, too.

Another great Thursday post--these are quite fun!
I'm going to love watching your Small World quilt come into being--the night sky is the best idea! And congrats to you and Mark on 42. I don't think you two need a club and a spade!

What fabric lines are your night sky fabrics? I really like them.
