The Name Game: Super Mom No Cape

We have a super hero playing The Name Game today, Susan Flemming from Super Mom - No Cape. That's a name that certainly catches your attention.

Sue, how did you choose the name of your blog?

Me being dubbed Super Mom started out as a family in-joke shortly after
the movie The Incredibles was released in 2004. I had sorted out some
problem one of our children was having and said child remarked, “Super Mom
to the rescue!”
To which I replied, “No Capes!”

If you’ve watched the movie, you’ll recognize the reference right away. If
not, you can watch a clip of it here...
So when it came to naming my blog back in April 2008, “Super Mom – No
Cape!” seemed the perfect choice.

I can’t tell you the number of blog comments and e-mails I’ve received
from people telling me how much they love the name.

Were there other names you considered and can you share any of them
with us?

I think I might have toyed with a couple of different ones, but as Super
Mom - No Cape really was perfect, any others that I may have come up with
would have quickly been rejected. It's so long ago now that I can't
remember what they might have been.

Now that you are recognized by Super Mom-No Cape, are you happy with it or do you wish you could change it to something else?

It's just such a fun name and brings so many smiles that I wouldn't change
it for the world.

In my blog banner underneath Super Mom - No Cape! is the subtitle: One
mother sharing her knowledge with others.
Dave's and my children are all grown now, so I've transitioned out of
full-time mothering but one never really stops being a mom. Your role in
their lives simply changes.

The things I share on my blog are all a direct result of whatever is
happening in my life at the moment. You’ll find a bit of everything from
sewing to quilting to embroidery to knitting and crocheting. There are
recipes and household tips as well.
(Note: Check out Sue's weekly stitchery link party on Mondays)
Increasingly, my most popular posts by far are my sewing tutorials. I have
several more of those planned over the coming months.

I do hope you'll come visit and if you like what you see, stay awhile and
explore my archives. And I'd love it even more if you decided to subscribe
so that we can get to know each other even more.

Many thanks to Sue for playing along this week. Please take some time to check out her blog and follow along on instagram at @supermomnocape.

You won't want to miss next week's edition of The Name Game. Greg from Grey Dogwood Studio will be here!

I have followed Sue for awhile now and enjoy her blog. Her embroidery Monday patterns are wonderful. It was fun to read how she came up with her name.

I am visiting here from Super Mom No Cape blog. Now I know how she chose the name for her blog. I also see she started blogging a month after I started my blog. Those were 2 things I hadn't known before. It is fun to see how people chose the name of their blog or website.

Great post! I had to chuckle when remembering the line "no capes" from The Incredibles! Thanks for sharing more about Sue.

Another great Name Game post - thank you!

We often say the line "no capes" around here, so it's fabulous that a quilter adopted that line. We do get things done through our grit and determination, don't we?
