Our daughter-in-law's mother, Debbie, is a genius with succulents. I don't have a single green finger on my hand. We had this cool pot that was just laying around, so she took it and made it a piece of art, which is now hanging near the front door. I merely ask that she stop by periodically to check on things to make sure I haven't killed it. :)
My good friend, Dotty, detests the color orange. I love it, and I don't understand her dislike at all. We agree to disagree. She sent me this cartoon.
Jill had an eye appointment the other day, with Aaron, so Ruby and Amelia came over for breakfast, still in their jammies. Cuteness overload.
Aaron and Christa went to the Bay Area over the weekend and the grandkids stayed with us. So much fun. During Ella's naptime, they enjoyed the new spa.
Made lots of projects with perler beads (wow, random perler beads end up in the oddest places...)
And the oldest three started sewing projects, which obviously makes my quilting heart beat a little faster. Especially after they each requested a one-on-one sewing day to themselves. This grandma's arm does not need any twisting!
I sewed this block, a free paper pieced pattern by Kate Basti (link available on her IG account, @katebasti). My plan is to make a lot more blocks, pairing some of my favorite fabrics with their selvage, and call it "Best Sellers." See what you can do with one little selvage?
I'm teaching a class today at Authorized Vac and Sew, on sewing with selvages. Such a cool store.
Oh, look, there is my Kona Color Card quilt. Proof that I do indeed love Kona solids.
Truth.

So many fun times with your grandchildren! Yay! Love all of these...and that cartoon!!!!lol!
Lots of good times here! I like your clever use of a single selvage, it does this book lover's heart good to see two good things made into one great one.
That book block is brilliant, a quilt of them would be fabulous!
Love your solids. Just curious if you ever have any trouble with them fading along the fold lines? Some of my Konas have faded and while they are on open shelving they are not in the sun at all. Frustrating when I open up a piece and then find it's faded.
I am having trouble getting the pattern for the book and I would LOVE to try it,can you send me a link for it? Thank you so much. Your little ones are delightful.
Fun post Cindy!! I love your Bestseller quilt idea. Hope you enjoyed teaching your class!
Yes....fun post. Kids do love those perle beads. I always enjoy your random thursday post. THANKS for sharing.
My son is 21 and I am STILL picking up those darn beads! I really look forward to this every Friday morning.
You love orange as much as I do. Did you know that I painted our 22 foot-long living room wall Behr "Mandarin"? I love it! It's really great that you get to spend time with your grandchildren as you do, making and creating together. You're making wonderful memories for them. I won't see any of mine until May, at the earliest. :-( Happy to know you're teaching. I have no doubt that you'll wow them with all the possibilities of selvages.
