We celebrated Halloween with a special school lunch last Thursday. Ella and Gabe helped make our charcuterie board.
Mark made ghosts (meatloaf mixture and provolone cheese).
Charlotte made cupcakes.
Have you heard of haunted carwashes? Apparently, this year it was a national trend. There was one close to us, and the only night that worked last week was Friday night. Us...and the rest of Fresno. Ella doesn't like carwashes under any circumstance, so she had no interest in one where creatures jumped out at your car as it went through the wash. But Charlotte, Levi, Gabe and Ruby were excited to go through. And my car definitely was ready for a wash. We got there about 7:15. By "there," I mean that we got to the vicinity. It took us awhile to find the end of the line. Turns out it was nearly two miles long! And you know how long it takes to go through the carwash. It's not like they can speed it up... We were sure it was at least a two- to three-hour wait. So we went to the regular carwash nearby, and the kids screamed their heads off the entire time, even though there was no haunting going on. If only you could hear the audio...
Then we stopped for ice cream, came home and watched the Addams Family movie, the animated version. It ended up being a great evening. Next year we will plan ahead and not wait until the night before Halloween!
I was shocked to find out that none of them have ever seen any episode of the original Addams Family TV show. I am taking it upon myself to educate them on quality TV. We will be watching at least a couple episodes from The Addams Family, The Munsters, Mr. Ed, My Favorite Martian, Gilligan's Island, the Flintstones and the Jetsons, and any others we deem necessary to their education.
I love this idea. Maybe next year.Ready for Halloween.

Love the Dodger suit! I’m sure he’ll get lots of use out of it too. lol. Add the Honeymooners to your list. Our grandkids find it hilarious. They should still have such great shows. We all need more light entertainment. I love the pic of your dad. Glad they let you see him on his birthday. I have not heard about the car washes. How fun!
Such a great post. I'm amazed at the creative ways that people have thought of to celebrate the holiday. Our admission day to the union was October 31. We traditionally celebrate on the last Saturday of the month with a parade. This year they had a "reverse" parade up at the college where the participants were socially distanced around the the parking lots and the viewers drove past in their cars. Not ideal but still adaptive!! The car wash idea is novel. I love the pumpkins. That lunch the kids prepared looks soooo good.
I've never heard of a car wash haunted house but it sounds like it would be fun . . .and maybe less scary than in person. At least you know you have the car protecting you. Too bad it was so popular you didn't get to do it but at least your car got a wash.
It's always a treat to see what you're up to, and being with grandchildren must certainly keep you busy. It's just the opposite around here. So quiet, with nothing to keep us going. Interesting about that haunted car wash. I've never heard of such a thing, and can only imagine how popular it must be. I'm so glad you got to see your Dad for his 93rd birthday! We didn't see my Dad for his 90th, in April, which was supposed to have been a big party. DA*NED COVID! I so want all this to be over.
Awesome on the suit and making Halloween FUN in these crazy times!
I'm so glad you were able to see your Dad, even as difficult as the circumstances might have been. And hey--somedays I feel 105 and other days I feel 15, so maybe he has the right idea? Your Halloween sounds like fun. We turned off all the lights downstairs and went upstairs for the evening. Dullsville. Meat loaf ghosts and other fun treats sound way more fun!
