Sewing progress

What's been happening in my sewing room? Quite a lot as it turns out.

I have four quilt tops ready to take to Darby for quilting. Better pictures will be coming when they have been completed.

Charlotte had some requests. Years ago I made her a Zip and Go purse (pattern by Dog Under My Desk).

She requested a new one, this time in black. I tried to use zippers in bright colors. That was a no-go for her. But the lining is a fun llama print.

I also made her a tote (pattern by Poppyprint). I modified it to use the cool directional print, so it has a seam on the bottom. Because it was kind of bulky, I did not box the corners.

One of my friends (hi, Paula) made the comment it's funny that it says "live a colorful life" on a label that is black.

Now I'm feeling at loose ends, wondering what project to start next...

My goodness, but you have been very busy! Four quilt tops?! And I noted that you finished your Pineapple blocks quilt top. I KNOW that one took you a really long time to make, so "Way to go!" I'm happy for you to see that one finished. Now if these were MY quilt tops, I'd be weighed down by the fact that I'd need to quilt all of them. Whew. What a relief for you to send them out. I like the bag you made for Charlotte, and find it interesting that it's much like my favorite Crossbody Bag by Sallie Tomato. It looks like the only difference is that there's one more zipper pouch on the outside of mine (where there is none on the one you made). I have worn out one of the two I made, and am getting ready to make a new one using cork. Just trying to decide whether to make it ALL cork, or add some fabric so I can use brightly-colored zippers. Anyway, I'm tickled to see all the fun things you've been working on. Great efforts!

Wow! I'm totally impressed - you have accomplished a LOT! I especially love the first and last quilts as I'm a scrappy quilter myself. Just finished watering outside and now I'm going to be happily seated at my machine to quilt a baby quilt. Normally LOVE the quilting part but the backside is Minkie and that is so darned messy. But the mama to be is going to LOVE this quilt....
enjoy your weekend! Deb #

WaHoo for all those finishes. They are so colorful and wonderful. Your pineapple blocks really vibrate with energy. Must have been a radical change to make something all black but I'm sure Charlotte appreciates it. And yes, the black label is kind of funny.
