Hello, August. What happened to July? Well, to catch up from the last two weeks, Charlotte, Christa and I had a girls trip to Disneyland to celebrate Charlotte's graduation. Both days, good friends joined us. So much fun.
Next up, some more Instagram templates.
In between, I've been doing some sewing.
I bought a kit from Lo and Behold Stitchery to make this Upscale Plaid quilt. Once you accurately sew your strip sets, the top goes together quite quickly. Brittany has a great eye for choosing colors, and I also purchased a kit in a beautiful blue.
Another echinacea block. I know that orange center is pretty intense, but I sure love it.
Some women who are part of our church's quilting group had a two-day local quilt retreat. I don't usually attend the quilting group, but I sure had a good time at the retreat. We had plenty of room to spread out, along with great food and conversation.
Did you know this?
Books I read in July:
I had a hard time choosing the "winner" for July, as I enjoyed all the books. Carrie Soto is Back taught me a lot more about tennis, and One Perfect Couple was an interesting look behind the scenes of a reality show, somewhat like Survivor. A Talent for Murder is the third in a series--I've enjoyed all three. Park Avenue Summer would be termed historical fiction, I think; it's about Helen Gurley Brown and her beginning days as editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine--well written. Summit Lake, The Princess of Las Vegas and The Guest were enjoyable mysteries, and How to End a Love Story was very good (with a few spicy parts). I kind of skimmed Foster--it's a short book and it was just okay for me. After debating, I chose One Perfect Couple as the winner for July.
Charlotte, Mark and I went to photograph her t-shirt quilt, made from t-shirts of the plays she had been in while attending Roosevelt High School. If you are not familiar with Audra McDonald, she graduated from Roosevelt as well. She has won more Tony awards than any other actor, has been in movies and TV, along with recording albums. Fresno is very proud of her.
We are super proud of Charlotte, as well, as she prepares for her "next act."
