The Forest and the Trees

You know that saying, "you can't see the forest for the trees"? At Fresno-Yosemite International Airport (yes, FYI, but our baggage tags still say FAT from its former name, Fresno Air Terminal, which has to be one of the worst airport codes ever...), we have both the forest and the trees. Awhile ago, they decided to install a Disney-quality forest of Giant Redwoods in the lobby area. Not really sure why. I think to disguise some really big support pillars. The real trees are just about an hour away and are spectacular. These trees are pretty awesome as well. And during the holidays this year, there are also twelve decorated Christmas trees.

(No, I didn't forget to rotate the picture. This is the South Pole tree and it really is attached to the ceiling.)

And EEEEK!! Look what showed up in my mailbox yesterday! Two charm packs would have been ideal, but a design decision has been made and one charm pack will be just fine!
Hope you're all still enjoying the holiday season.

I'm not sure i can do this story justice via blog comment, but it was cute so im going to try:

I flew out of FAT the week before xmas and in the seats behind me were two brothers aprix 7&8. As the plane taxied past a large pine/fir tree their conversation went:

Brother1: look a giant christmas tree!!
Brother2: its not a christmas tree, its planted there
Brother1: WHO whould plant a TREE in an AIRPORT!?!?

I thought about all the trees inside the terminal and laughed.

Loved this!
I always like it when airports give a sense of the place, and it doesn't happen successfully too often. I'd call this a success.

I loved the South Pole tree! Hilarious.

Hope you had a Happy Christmas and are looking forward to a fabulous New Year. We plan to celebrate the New Year on East Coast Time--like toast in the New Year at 9:00 p.m. California time and then go to bed. Sounds good to me.

FAT? That is hilarious! I would save those tags just for kicks! Isn't it amazing the treasures you can find when you notice more closely, even at an airport! These are pretty cool displays.

It's true, our airport has gotten to be a much friendlier place.

What fun trees! We have flown in and out of FAT and it makes me giggle every time.

Don't you just love Sherbet Pips? Can't wait to see what you do with it!
