When I started working in Quilter's Paradise quilt store in 2005, I became familiar with fabric by Anna Maria Horner. By the time I began working there, her second line, Chocolate Lollipop, hit the shop and I was hooked. I loved her lush florals and bold colors. I began collecting. And collecting. And collecting.
But like the paint-by-number bird fabric, I was never quite sure what to do with it. In 2024, we started contemplating downsizing and I knew it was time to use it up. My friend, Diane Stanley, posted a photo of a quilt she had made with AMH fabric with a simple hourglass block. Bingo!
2024 was a year when I decided to not only make quilts to use up fabric, but to make them for specific people in my life. We have six nieces on Mark's side, so I thought it would be fun to make a quilt for each of them using this fabric--they would be the same, and also slightly different from each other. Hence, the name.
And the backs--I was able to use a lot of fabric!
When we were in Duluth, MN, in August 2024, I had one of the quilts along and photographed it at our hotel.
Rose sent me this photo of the quilt on her bed.
This was a project that warmed my heart and I can't think of better use of this beautiful fabric.

I love how they are all connected and it's always a treat to get photos of the quilts we gift, isn't it?
I love that you used treasure fabric from your collection for treasured family members. It binds them and you together. I can only imagine how blessed they feel to be thought of and how much pleasure they will get from using these quilts. I recently started digging into fabric I've been saving for???? It feels good to see it used, whether for family or donation.
What a wonderful way to use these beautiful fabrics! I always enjoy reading your blog posts but this is my favorite!!

This is wonderful, Cindy! I'm so happy for you to have use-up so much fabric (isn't that just the BEST feeling?) and made six people very happy. It's always extra nice when the recipient sends a picture (or two) of a quilt "in use." I know how you're feeling about all this, and good for you! Those are all beautiful quilts that you can be very proud of.
I absolutely love how you made use of your long collected AMH fabrics to make same but different quilts for your family. I've been contemplating something similar with all my Kaffe fabrics Simple designs that use the fabric up. I really really need to use fabric up. I've even thought of precutting into strips and squares at the ready but can't bring myself to do that....too many what ifs.

Thanksgiving morning. Catching up on my blog reading. Loved reading about what you did with the Anna Marie Horner fabric. I just finished a quilt using her fabric. But it was a kit, so no personal input. I like you have a bunch of Anna's fabric. Not whole lines, but a little of this and that. Now, I can plan on using it. I will just go with the flow. Which for some reason I have been to frozen to cut. Have a great Thanksgiving.
