The
MCC quilt auction is Saturday. I don't have a quilt ready for charity auction this year, but, unlike any other year, all the blocks are done for the 2014 quilt! Way ahead of schedule. Mark has been
gently encouraging me to finished a little bit sooner than I usually do. Anyway...
Here are the blocks (and anyone who has worked with
Oakshott cottons knows that it is really hard to get a photograph that adequately shows how absolutely gorgeous these fabrics are).
And then I realized didn't take a picture of one of my favorites--and this photo really does NOT do it justice. The color is much more accurate in the photo below that has all the blocks.
So far it is 96 x 96 inches. Next up. I'm going to put a one-inch sashing between each block because
there is no way I'm going to try to match up all those star points they need a little "breathing" room. What comes next is still on the drawing board. And I think it needs a different name. On Instagram I have been calling it "Swooning with Oakshotts." Any other ideas?
Linking up with
Lee this week.

W-o-w! I've never held oakshotts in my own hand but I can just imagine how beautiful they are after browsing through all of your blocks (!)
Love, just love! It looks so pretty in the photos - can only imagine how lovely it is in person!
This looks stunning in the Shot cottons with the black background!
Oh my! That is stunning!
Oh wow indeed! That must look amazing in person!
Love it! The fabrics are really effective against the black! I have just finished my Swoon blocks, they are so much fun to make!
This is beyond WOW. It is simply stunning.
Beautiful! Thinking 'The Swoon Jewels', but that may be the cold meds talking xxx
That is gorgeous! I love the vibrant colors on black(?)!
It's beautiful!!!! So beautiful I am stumped to think of a name that matches its beauty!
Absolutely gorgeous.
I second (and third!) everyone's comments...this is VERY striking! Lovely work :)
I think some Oakshotts would be lovely sitting in my stash;) Such a fabulous quilt!!
Just gorgeous! The fabric and colour choices suit the Swoon perfectly!
Beautiful, especially with the black background! It makes me want to try my own swoon!
love them all!!!
Magnificent!
All I can say is WOW!
That is gorgeous. I have not used the fabrics before, but they look wonderful.
simply stunning!
These have an Amish feel to them. swoonamish>>swamish>>>Oak Shot Swamish
It's a gorgeous quilt (top)!
Wow, stunning! There's an MCC sale a few hours north of us here, once a year, and we've never gone. I think I would like it - the sights, the goods, and the food of course!!
This is such a beautiful quilt!! I can only imagine how amazing it feels with all those Oakshotts!!
That is just beautiful -I'd smile everytime I'd look at it!
This is my favorite swoon to date! I love it! Excited to see the finished quilt.
Nice. I have been thinking about a solid sampler a lot lately. Beautiful. Lucky girl to have those gorgeous fabrics!
This is truly beautiful! Love your idea of a small sashing... I need to remember that.
Drop dead gorgeous! This is wonderful ; )
This quilt looks incredible!!
Bursting with Oakshott? I'm bursting with excitement to see it done anyway :oD
Really beautiful! I've never even seen Oakshot in person, but I know I love it already. That is going to be one fabulous quilt.
I think I know what to do with my Oakshott swap blocks now. Beautiful!
"Swoon Shotts" this a play on the word Oakshott and a shot of something strong to drink. I think it is a fitting way to describe the fluidity of the fabric too.
AmandaK@whatthebobbin
That is pretty awesome! Call it "Swotts"
Oh my goodness, these are *amazing*!!
Wow! That dark background is dynamic! :o)
That is one beautiful quilt!!! I really suck at naming quilts, so I got nothin' ;-)
Fantastic! Wow. Really!!
Oh your blocks are absolutely gorgeous.
Just stunning, Cindy! I'd say you have your quilting mojo back!! I've got the pattern and you are tempting me to get it out again.
While I know you want to pay homage to Oakshott in the name, after seeing all the wonderful blocks in your post, and knowing how you give so freely of your time to make this quilt, all I could think about was the presence of God's glories in your life, how richly he blesses you and me and everyone who is able to stitch and quilt and create, leaving a little of themselves in every quilt. Something along those lines, I think, would be a truer name for what a wonderful quilt this is. You are amazing.
Elizabeth
It's fabulous!
Just gorgeous!!! I am sure those Oakshotts glow even more in real life. Enjoy working on this beauty...
Gorgeous! I love the Oakshotts!
Wow! How about Swooning Shotts? I haven't seen these fabrics in person but I get the idea of how much more fabulous they look in reality. Is the black an Oakshott too? This quilt is like a glittering jewel. Oh, you could name it Starburst Jewels or Jewel Swoon.
I don't have any name suggestions (surprisingly) but I have to say that I don't think there could be a more appropriate quilt for the MCC auction. It has such a traditional Amish feel to it with the black and the bright solids - that coupled with the nice hand to the Oakshott fabrics.. Perfect. It's just beautiful, Cindy. Just simply gorgeous.
I am SO impressed! These are fantastic! Both modern and vintage (thinking Amish) at the same time. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
I would call it beautiful! Well done.
It's really awesome. I love it. I have been thinking SwoonSchott. But I don't know....
