Really Random Thursday, 4/25/13

Let's get right to it. Mark and I were at the coast over the weekend. We had a little adventure Friday morning. I wanted to deliver a couple of quilt tops to Krista, who was visiting her family in Los Osos. She gave us great instructions on how to drive from Pismo Beach to Los Osos. The adventure became actually getting to the house. The city was doing a lot of sewer work on that street. We decided to park on the next street and hike behind all the houses, then walk around all the heavy equipment. We made it, and the quilt tops are safely in her hands.
That afternoon we saw "42." We highly recommend it.
An interesting sculpture in San Luis Obispo:
Seen in the local quilt shop in Pismo Beach:
Mark happened to take a fairly good picture of me. That is really rare. So I have changed my profile picture.
We had really lovely weather all weekend. We woke up on Monday morning to a grey sky. Which meant, as suspected, that the weather was going to be hot in Fresno. And it's only April!

But I came home to some amazing mail!

Stephanie   sent some orangey goodness for a little pick-me-up. It totally worked.
The quilt that will be in the Modern Bee book arrived back home, along with some goodies from Lindsay.
A cool pouch I ordered from Terri arrived,
along with something totally unexpected from her as well.

Seen in the parking lot by the local Barnes and Noble:
Speaking of Barnes and Noble, I had a great play date with these two the other morning. Nothing better than boys, books and baseball.
And later in the afternoon, time with this little ballerina.
I have an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative project. I'm a little nervous about coming up with something good enough to contribute.
Yep, that sounds about right...

Your turn.

Great post! Glad you liked the orangey goodness. I ordered a pouch from Terri, too! :-) I love the comic. I'm doing a bit of panic-inspired sewing today for a project that has a deadline coming up! Can't wait to see what you do. I love the sewing machine! I'm jealous of your weather. Our heater is still going this morning. It's in the 30's with a forecast of rain mixed with snow. :-( Have a wonderful day!

I'll bet it was gorgeous in Pismo last weekend.

That red polka dot machine is fabulous. Very clever.

The best times are always with the grandbabies. What a sweet little ballerina with that lovely smile!!

Panic works for me too.

How fun to be able to go to the beach for the weekend! I'm at the beach but the ice is still about two feet thick. What sweet times with the grands - enjoy.

That's exciting about your collaborative project. I'm sure anything you think of will be fantastic. And I love the Calvin & Hobbes :-)

Hi Cindy, Wish I was on the beach. We've had snow here every Monday for the past 3 weeks. But after a couple of days in the 60's, it all melts then the cycle starts over again. Gotta love springtime on the Rockies. The collaboration project is intriguing. Look forward to hearing more.

Looks like you had a good week. Your weather report is scaring me! I dread the hot summers here, so I am freaking out to see it in the 90s in CA!! lol! We MUST meet up!

Please bring the redhead, beach, palm trees, and red dot sewing machine to Kansas. Retirement started a few hours ago and I am ready for some good times with the cleverest gal I know. Let the good times roll!

LOVE: polkadot machine, comment #20 about not marrying American Women, the fact that you are in a BOOK! and have another collaborative project coming up, your MAIL with all its goodies, the new photo (Dave did a pretty good one of me--must be our month?) and most of all, time away with your hubs on the coast.

Okey dokey, now back to the grading. . .
