Really Random Thursday, 10/3/19

Happy October! This is one of my favorite pictures from our fun birthday celebration at Disneyland with Charlotte on her 13th birthday.
I found this picture of Mark on his favorite ride, the park bench, while Charlotte and I were on the ferris wheel.
Every September, our good friends from Calgary, Russ and Ingrid, come to California for a week. We usually go spend a night in Carmel, where they stay for a few days, so we can enjoy the coast together. This year our calendar didn't allow us to go there, so they came to Fresno for the day. We took them to the zoo for lunch. It was a beautiful day with special friends.
Every time Gabe and I have a "date," he makes me laugh.  I can hardly believe he is going to be 8 years old next week!

A friend of mine sent me this picture of Mark (the referee) talking to her husband (the coach).
Mark and I are spending the week at Lakeview Cottages on Huntington Lake. I was a little apprehensive, given the projected weather for the week--highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s--but we have all the warm clothing (and quilts--of course we have quilts).
It's spectactularly beautiful up here.
This is the inside of our cozy little cabin for the week.

Living room (including plastic storage bins for footrests). We were even able to watch Sunday Night Football on the iPad.
Kitchen, with taco soup in the crockpot--perfect for a chilly evening.
And bedroom.
But the view. Ah....the view!

I've been doing some sewing at home.

The Granny Cabin Quilt Along by @thencamejune.

And my basket sampler quilt top is finally completed.
Did you happen to see that new survey on Instagram by @broadclothstudio called What Sewing Notion are You?  Apparently I'm a ruler.
When we moved my father to skilled nursing, we gave one of the quilts I had made to a good friend and his wife. They just moved to a new house and here it is on their bed. I'm so happy it is in a place where it is loved.
I'm always impressed with the store windows at the MCC thrift store, which change seasonally.
I finished the Sweet Pea afghan, which Ella had claimed before I even finished it. I still haven't gotten a picture of her with the afghan, but she was very happy when it was finally hers.

And this is what happens when I order something that is not available on Amazon Prime...
Happy Thursday!

I just love the picture of you and Charlotte. Special. And the photos of Gabe really show off his eyes which seem full of sparkle and mischief. Finally I too relate to the letter board. Mostly in the form of buying fabric online. Have another fun filled week.

Oh, that cabin is in a GORGEOUS place!!! I could easily live there with a barn and pasture for my horse and a 2,000 sq. foot quilting cabin for all my machines and fabric!!

You always have such fun with the grandchildren. Did you end up getting any snow at the cabin? Glad you had plenty of quilts to keep you warm. It sounds like a fabulous break.

I saw the picture of you & Charlotte on IG, and it was so colorfuland eye-catching I didn't even notice you two! We just got back from Banff where we got snowed on. We left early enough for other places first that we missed the snow in the forecast so there were lots of layers needed for outdoors. But it was so beautiful, in a very different way than the beauty of your cabin adventure.

So many fun things in this post, from a trip with Charlotte ("Mark's favorite ride"--what a scream!) to quilts and cabins. That cabin does look cozy, but I didn't see your sewing machine anywhere--was it a week of hand-sewing? What a lovely get-away. Welcome home!
