When I started working in Quilter's Paradise quilt store in 2005, I became familiar with fabric by Anna Maria Horner. By the time I began working there, her second line, Chocolate Lollipop, hit the shop and I was hooked. I loved her lush florals and bold colors. I began collecting. And collecting. And collecting.
But like the paint-by-number bird fabric, I was never quite sure what to do with it. In 2024, we started contemplating downsizing and I knew it was time to use it up. My friend, Diane Stanley, posted a photo of a quilt she had made with AMH fabric with a simple hourglass block. Bingo!
2024 was a year when I decided to not only make quilts to use up fabric, but to make them for specific people in my life. We have six nieces on Mark's side, so I thought it would be fun to make a quilt for each of them using this fabric--they would be the same, and also slightly different from each other. Hence, the name.
And the backs--I was able to use a lot of fabric!

What perfect way to use up your beautiful AMH fabric. And getting to see one of the quilts being used on a bed? Icing on the cake!
I love these and love AMH fabrics! Did you cut them at 10”? Did you make two at a time or four at a time method? Thanks
I think the idea of making six quilts from the same pattern and by the same designer was inspiring. The nieces will surely value them and each will find the similarities and differences to be endearing. To know that someone special was thinking of them and took the time to make them a quilt is heartwarming.

Looks like a simple, but effective, design for using larger print AMH (now Parry) fabrics. No doubt all your nieces will love them. Though I definitely favor those relatives who take time to show the quilt in use, whether on a bed, or wrapped around someone. Those are always the most heart-warming pictures to have. It's nice when you can share and blog about it. I'm happy for you to be using your stash in such a generous and loving way.

I am so happy to read this post, and to see all the same, but different fabrics that you and I share in our collections. And then to see all the beautiful Same, But Different quilts. What a labor of love and what a set of beautiful quilts. I also loved the note, too. You are now their Favorite Aunt, I'm sure. I really like how every once in a while you popped in a full block amid those hourglass blocks. They are all so wonderful!
