I have copied the "full frontal" from Felicity, which is just fabulous. Okay. Finished.
My Colorbox quilt no longer lives at my house and I miss it. It is getting ready for the charity auction next weekend. In the meantime, I had some professional
It is a very interesting process. I have had all my charity quilts photographed. Since I don't get to keep them after spending so much time with them, it is a nice to have a decent photograph. And the quilts are usually so large that there is nowhere in our
house large enough to do a decent job of photographing them.
Remember the days of actual film cameras? This is the fifth quilt that Aaron has photographed for me over a ten-year timespan. And with the first quilt I'm pretty sure the camera had actual film. Then of course he transitioned to high-end digital cameras and photoshop. But he still actually stood behind the camera to take the photos.
Not this time. Yes, there was a camera. Here it is.
And here is the Aaron, doing his job as a photographer.
This is the picture I took of the quilt (unretouched):
This is the professional version:
I'm linking up here and here.

It's a great quilt!! It, or parts of it, would make great postcards!! You are lucky to have such a friend as Aaron! Wish I'd thought of doing this! There are some quilts I gave away to friends years ago which I don't even have photos of! Come to think of it, I don't have the friends either! lol!
Gorgeous quilt! I love the bright colours.
Fantastic idea to have professional photos taken as a keepsake.
Wow it's just gorgeous! If I made something as beautiful I'd have photographed too. Great idea!
The last picture is stunning, definitely postcards!
Yay for finally finishing Fridays... I love the brick background too :o)
I think it's super fabulous! I love the brick wall photos, too, I adore the way quilts look on a brick wall :) What a fabulous idea to have it photographed, that's a great way to remember it :)
Wow, what fantastic pictures! I am glad you have them to remember the quilt by. I love that he picked the threads off too...what a guy!
Full frontal..uhuh;)
How cool is that though!! Such a beauty of a quilt!
Oh nice! What a lovely quilt! And I do like the brick background too. It's a nice frame!
Looks faaaaabulous! Such a cool process!
Someone is going to be one lucky bidder--gorgeous!
Very nice photos. Did you know that you can have phone cases made with any image on them? Check out Quilt My Phone. Amazing. I'm also imagining a puzzle and coasters. Heck, how about a night shirt while you are at it.
It's gorgeous! You do colors like no one else. Congrats on your finish!
Jennifer :)
That's pretty cool. I would never have thought about having a quilt professionally photographed though your reasoning is great. Why not, especially if it's moving on to someone you may not know or if you most likely won't see it again?
Postcards or notecards are a great idea.
Awesome quilt - having a pro photograph it is a great idea. I like the brick too.
I really need to find someone here to do this... I can't take a good quilt photo to save my life, given the lack of light and space in our home.
I love this quilt! Great work!
The ending is very unusual and I like it very much!
Absolutely beautiful!! Each of the colors you've chosen work so well with the others. Just wonderful!!
Really like all the blocks you chose for this!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! It would make great postcards, or notecards!
Utterly gorgeous and so interesting to see the process! Notecards would be amazing :)
Sigh, I love this quilt so much, Cindy! I can't imagine having to part with it, but I'm so glad you got some fabulous photos of it to have as a keepsake. You did a fantastic job with this quilt! Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!
stunning quilt! having it photographed was such a good idea! Thanks for linking up to TGIFF!
Gorgeous quilt! I imagine it's hard to let such a beauty go. All for a good cause though.
Thanks for the behind the scenes shots of the photographing process. Very interesting!
That is one gorgeous quilt. I'm about to come into a whole mess of rainbow charm squares. This might be just want I need to do with some of them.
Oh my, that quilt is HUGE! I had no idea. I hope you do have cards made - the colours are perfect and it is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this process. I've never had a quilt professionally photographed and I bet it would be a cool experience. I saw that someone suggested Quiltmyphone - def. check it out!! I just bought a cover for my iphone with a vintage log cabin quilt and can't wait for it to arrive.
You're so generous Cindy. I hope that this quilt is a big help to your charity.
What a great idea to have this fabulous charity quilt professional photographed Cindy! It's gorgeous and you need to print notecards/postcards!
So would the professional photo be the full monty? Whether or not, it's fabulous! The quilt is simply stunning, and you're fortunate to get such high-quality photos of it. Very well done, Cindy!
I'm pretty sure I stole Full Frontal from someone else but hey, I'll take the credit here no problem!
Cindy, this quilt is absolutely exquisite. And enormous! What a lovely thing Aaron does for you and YES YES do notecards. And sign me up for a set or three.
Wow! I love it!
This quilt is lovely and looks quite large. I love Susan's comment about quilts made and friends no longer. Too funny.
Funny--I snapped a photo of that very bottle of detergent, and thought it hilarious that they would decorate their soap bottles with quilts. Like we'd ever use that on a quilt. . .
Your quilt is so beautiful, and I hope your auction makes scads of money on it. Such a gift from the heart, so I'm very glad you had it photographed. I do think cards is a great idea--it goes along with the theme of your blog: live a colorful life.
Fun post today--you ready for Easter? I've already eaten half of my divinity egg from See's (my standard Easter treat) and I'm teaching the lesson tomorrow in the women's auxilliary in church--about resurrection. Perfect fit for the day.
Hope you have a very lovely Easter!
E.
It's stunning!!
What fun to have a quilt professionally photographed...especially such a gorgeous one!
It is so beautiful, Cindy! It turned out great, and love the professional photography. If you do the notecards, let me know. I want to get some! ;-0
