The Name Game: Cluck Cluck Sew (and giveaway)

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by.
You can't imagine my excitement when Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew said she would play the Name Game.

Do you read her blog? A couple of weeks ago I went through all her archives. Seriously. Totally worthwhile. Not only that, I met her in Kansas City at quilt market so now we're friends. Hah--me and like 10,000 other people. Anyway, this will be a picture-heavy post. Because she said I could choose whatever pictures I wanted. And then I couldn't stop. But you will be happy that I had no self-control!

How did you choose the name for your blog?

Tutorial here
I grew up with chickens and love love love them.  While visiting my parents and trying to think up a name I heard the chickens clucking down in their coop as they do once a day when they lay an egg (because ouch that must hurt!!!).  Inspiration hit and I named the blog Cluck Cluck Sew.  Now looking back it was a weird name....but I still like it 5 years later.

Were there other names you considered, and can you share any of them with us?

I honestly can't remember any of the other names I considered.  I was going through my bird-loving faze when everything in stores had birds/nests/eggs on them, so it probably would have been something bird-ish anyways!  I'm not very creative with my naming quilts and things...so there's a good chance it would have been something lame.

 Tutorial here

Now that you are recognized by Cluck Cluck Sew, are you happy with it, or do you wish you could change it to something else?
I'm still happy with my blog name.  Even though its kind of weird I think it makes it unique. I've been in a quilt shop more than a few times when someone has said, "Are you the chicken blog lady?" so I guess associating me and the blog with a chicken isn't the worst thing in the world!  I can't think of what in the world I would change the name to even if I could...so I guess it would be the same!

Allison, I took this picture in Minnesota in July. This one's for you.
Allison's quilts are bright and cheery. She has lots of tutorials on her blog for all kinds of things, including quilts. AND she has a great line of patterns.
AND she is generously giving away three patterns! That means three winners! So head over to Cluck Cluck Sew and check out her line of patterns and come back here and tell me your favorite. I'm warning you--it will be a hard choice!  I'll choose the winners on Wednesday and Allison will either mail you the paper pattern or send you the instant PDF.

I love all of Allison's patterns, but would really like to make Spin Cycle. That one just really makes me smile.
I've been following Cluck,Cluck,Sew forever and love her blog and all the tutorials she is so kind to have on it. I think she may have been reading the great and funny book "Click, Clack, Moo" to her kids when she thought of the name of her blog. It's a kind of wacky book, but ever so fun. Kind of like modern quilts. :)
Thanks for the giveaway.

I'd love to have the pattern for Seville. I made my daughter the Kaleidoscope quilt to take to college this fall,(blogged about here http://life-is-sew-good.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-kaleidoscope-quilt-and-my-only.html) and I'm sure I'll be making another of those for myself sometime. I love the way it turned out, but the next one will definitely have some solids rather than all patterns so the sections stand out better.

Anonymous said... #

I have several of her patterns already, and I think I'd love to have "All Patched Up" to add to my collection. I enjoy following her blog and hearing about all of her adventures w/her three little ones.

I have been sewing for almost a year now and often read Cluck, Cluck, Sew. It is a great name because it is so memorable and I never confuse it with other blog names.
