The Name Game: Distant Pickles

Today I'm thrilled to have Julie and Bree from Distant Pickles. I have been intrigued by the name of their blog ever since I first saw it. Julie lives in South Carolina and Bree lives in Florida. So how did these two friends come up with such an interesting and unique name?
How did you choose the name, Distant Pickles?

When we decided to form a blog together we were throwing around ideas for a name one day. We asked some of our fellow online friends for ideas and they came up with a few, as did Bree. I was unable to come up with any at all! I’m terrible at coming up with names for things. It’s amazing my children even have names, my youngest didn’t have one until the day after he was born! Anyway, Bree came up with Distant Pickles. Her reasoning was that we are distant from each other (we are separated by two states) and that pregnant women like pickles (we met when we were both pregnant with our soon to be 3 year olds).

Were there other names you considered, and can you share any of them with us?

Some of the other names that Bree and our friends came up with were It Takes a Hive (which was a play on words because we call our private chat group The Hive), Julie and Bree’s Crafty Corner, Adventures of Two Crafty Mamas, Crafters in Cahoots, Jubilee, and Two Bees or Knot Two Bees.
Now that you are recognized by Distant Pickles, are you happy with it, or do you wish you could change it to something else?
We absolutely LOVE our blog name! It’s very distinct, something that people remember. It’s also one that makes people wonder where it came from and want to know the story behind it. We actually got a comment on Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day that that person clicked through to our blog specifically because of the name and she was curious!
So head on over to Distant Pickles and say hi to Julie and Bree, and have a look around.
And don't forget to come back tomorrow. It's Aurifil thread giveaway day!!
