Project Gingham Reveal: My Granny Loves Gingham

Several months ago, Elizabeth and Krista decided to do a project involving gingham. Elizabeth had found some gingham at a garage sale, and as often happens with quilters, that led to the idea, which led to today, where the three of us are revealing our individual gingham projects. And I can't wait to see what they came up with.

Elizabeth sent me a nice selection of ginghams to work with, some squares, some fat quarters. I took them along when I quilted for a whole weekend at my friend's cabin near Yosemite. I had just finished testing a great chevron quilt pattern (which I'll show later in the month), and the scraps were just begging to play along with the ginghams.
I got six blocks completed that weekend. Then set the project aside for some other pressing matters. This last weekend, realizing how close it was to July 4th, I finally got in gear and (nearly) completed the project. If I had planned my time better had more time, it would have gotten more quilting. But, alas, I just quilted around each block, using a different color for each one. Adding some prairie stitching will do the trick, as it definitely needs more quilting. And then a trip through the washer and dryer to make it nice and crinkly.
Mark is always so helpful with ideas when I can't make a decision. He helped me audition fabrics for binding, and actually talked me through the pros and cons of each one. He's got a great "eye"--some of the best quilting ideas come from him. We chose the one on the left.
Without further adieu, the full reveal of "My Granny Loves Gingham."
Thanks, Elizabeth and Krista, for letting me play along. I'm excited to see what your gingham projects look like!

I hope you come back on Friday to see all 111 Farmer's Wife blocks--and there will be another great guest blogger.
Next Tuesday, there will be a progress post on the Fusion Blanket Crochet-Along. Sure hope I have some of it figured out by then!

I'm linking to WIP Wednesday.Happy 4th!

How cute! My Cowboy helps me pick colors all the time. He's so good at it, I'm not sure I can do it by myself anymore!

What a lovely, lovely quilt!

Well, you will be far ahead of me on the Fusion. I am waiting for my order to arrive.

We have been 60 hours without power in 90+ degrees and humid, so a bit toasty. Now I have laundry and grocery catch up like crazy! An empty fridge and freezer needs to be filled. Piles of laundry need to be washed and dried. Glad the AC is working today!
