After reviewing numerous tutorials, I picked up my needle and thread again. But we were out of town. I forgot my thimble. I forgot my hoop.
I viewed tutorials to brush up on the technique, and then quilted a few rows. Ripped them out, quilted again, ripped them out again, and repeated the cycle, comparing my stitches to the instructions recommending the goal of the same length, top and bottom. And ripped them out again.
Then I remembered. Each of us has our own quilting "signature," our stitches are unique to us.
When I came home, I put the quilt top in my hoop, put my beloved metal thimble on my finger, did a few rows. It felt finally felt right. And there they were: my stitches, my signature.
Linking up to WIP Wednesday.

I love hand quilting! I wish I could hand quilt all my quilts :) Your stitching looks really beautiful!
Beautiful signature stitches! Mine are always smaller on the back but I've given up caring!! So long as I'm enjoying doing it :-) though maybe I should try using a hoop ;-)
Yes we all do have some kind of signature don't we? I've been writing a post about something similar that I just can't seem to get finished. I love your stitches . . . one of these days maybe I'll just take the time and try hand stitching. I love the look but don't want to bother.
Beautiful handstitching. Handstitching is definitely NOT my signature! :P
How fun! I love it. I am trying to get up enough nerve to try something. Maybe a pouch or a tote?
oh I like that! I always was unsure about my hand stitches but when you look at it this way, it's all ok! Thanks!
I was only reading something on IG the other day about hand quilting! I believe, for my own sanity mainly, that it is nigh impossible to get the bottom stitches as even in length as the top ones, especially with perle thread! So embrace your 'uncool' and go for it! If you enjoy and it looks great, why not!?
good to find oneself again. :)
Glad you got it sorted in the end :o)
So glad you found yourself and are happy too - as you should be! And yes, we all have our signatures, even possibly those we don't even realize until we look at someone else's work and think "oh, I didn't know I was doing that differently!" the trick is to realizing that differently is okay too!
Lovely!!
I love the red on purple! I'd never think to do that, but it's smashing. And how you described your signature is spot on; I wouldn't have thought to express it that way. Good stuff here! And I like your new "about me" picture.
