Seriously and completely speechless.
A package arrived in the mail today. Totally unexpected. I am expecting some small packages of fabric, but this was largish. And from Vancouver. Hmmm.
This is what was inside the mailing envelope. The cutest zippered bag. And a larger package wrapped in adorable tissue paper and tied with a selvage.
Hold on. I think the zippered bag has something in it.
Selvages!
Taking the selvage "ribbon" off the other package and turning it over. Adorable scalloped tissue paper. I'm so excited to see what's inside!
Never in a million years would I have expected this. It is a mini quilt that looks just like my blog header!
Made by my very good friend, Felicity. Please, PLEASE go here to see her amazing work if you haven't already met her. Earlier this year she made what I thought was my all-time favorite quilt. Until today, that is.
This is what I can tell you about quilting and blogging and making friends via the computer. Don't for a minute ever think that someone sitting in front a computer screen in another town, another state, another country, someone you have never met in person...don't for a minute ever think that that someone can't be a real friend. Because it's just not true.
Thanks, Felicity. Right now I can't even think of the proper words to tell you what this quilt means to me...
Wow, Cindy, I am speechless as well. What an absolutely beautiful and thoughtful gift!!! What a blessing to have such friends :)
ReplyDeleteI am a already a Felicity fan....what a lovely gift. That Is very sweet : ) Happy October!
ReplyDeleteHow special is that?! Wow! Aren't surprises in the mail fun, though?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Felicity! You outdid yourself! This is such a lovely gift. Cindy, I am sure you will always cherish it. It makes me teary eyed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and thoughtful gift from an amazing friend! :)
ReplyDeleteEarlier this week I admitted being a homebody, which in turn has allowed me to meet a great many ppl via the computer, some of whom I've met in rl and some who I have not. I can fully agree that just because I have not met them, doesn't mean their friendship is any less real. I'm just starting off in blogland and from all I've read, I can only imagine that I will be making many more 'online friends' and I, for one, look forward to it!
And thanks, I now have a new blog to read and Felicity has a new follower!
Wonderful xxx

ReplyDeleteYou lucky thing, it's amazing!! Really love the letters and the quilting :-)
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing what inspires friends to create for one another, and also just what they decide to create! It's just so cool; all this gorgeous work flying around the world into appreciative homes. I gotta say, Felicity is every much as fabulous in person as she is online (I personally covet her collection of uber-stylish spectacles), I just got lucky because we live in the same place but we likely wouldn't have met if it wasn't for flickr.
ReplyDeleteHoly .... Whoa! This is amazing! What a great gift!!! Cindy you must be on Cloud 9. I hope you stay up there for awhile. Felicity has really outdone herself! Whew hew!!!!

Wow! Super! The quilting world is chock full of kind, thoughtful, giving people. I think we're all just lucky to be a part of it and should join in when we can. You have a good friend, there :)
ReplyDeleteI love your sentence about blogland friends being real friends - my kids think you all are my imaginary friends and yet, like you, I get surprise packages in the mail from time to time - in fact I receive more mail now than I ever did before quilting and those packages tend to be nice and squidgy! Fab quilt
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift (and I hear you sent her something awesome too :). Your point that bloggy friends are real friends is totally on point -- I have several whom I've never met but who are fantastic friends.
ReplyDeleteVery cool wonderful amazing incredible heartwarming happiness in a surprising bundle of love!
ReplyDeleteDid I get it all? I remember when someone I corresponded with sent me a little treat all the way from Australia. I was quite touched that she'd do this--so I can imagine how fun it was to get this package of treats!
