London, February 17

Saturday, our first full day in London. Our hotel offered breakfast, and I had my first traditional English breakfast--fried egg, beans, and bacon (which really seemed like a piece of ham).

After breakfast, we headed to Liberty of London. If you are a quilter, it's practically mandatory We passed some interesting sites along the way.
Anyone remember the boots and hats popular in the 1960s?

And then Liberty of London.

Four floors of shopping--fabric and upscale clothing.

Much to my own amazement, I only purchased 1/2 metre of fabric.

We stopped for coffee at the Albert Cafe.

And I took this quilt inspiration photo.
I really loved this quote below the clock: No minute gone comes ever back again. Take heed and see ye nothing do in vain.

Good advice.
Then it was time to ride the underground to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for an afternoon match. Have you watched Ted Lasso? Tottenham is part of the premier league and I was excited to see a match in person.
We had a beef and onion pie before settling into our seats.

They played the Wolverhampton Wanderers and, sadly, lost 2-1. But I thoroughly enjoyed the entire afternoon.
We did a little shopping to let the crowds headed to the underground thin out a bit.
But it was still a mass of people headed to the underground...

For dinner we had delicious fish and chips.

Sounds like a wonderful day. Only one piece of fabric!! I bet there was at least one jealous grandchild at home wishing he had been at the game with you. Love your photos.
